I’m sure it falls upon deaf ears, as they have a whole thing outlined already for the worldsoul saga thing, but I still want more allied races to be available. I know it’s a lot of work. I know it’s a lot of compatibility with armor. I know it’s unlikely. Still, I want them.
Coilscar
Sheva (the 6 arm ladies from Legion)
Tortolans
Jinyu
Arrakoa
Draconid (the flightless dragons that could be warriors and such)
Sethrakk (cobra folks)
Tuskarr (can even be Factionless, like accepted in cities of both sides like pacifists)
Saberon
Ogre
I’d even love to play as a demon shapeshifter that can learn forms from other demons and wear them, while their original form is just a sentient blob of Fel essence. That would be really cool, seeing as there are so many demons to take on the appearance of and use in battle. I’d personally love to be an Imp Death Knight.
Sure, post that we don’t need more allied races.
Sure, say retail WoW is a joke.
It’s different, and all inclusive, so fight for what you want added. This game is built partially by what players want. The other part is what can bring people in, and if more races become playable, this could bring different people back in, especially if the Devs allow Draknoid warriors that some people were craving with Dragonflight. They could even get like some magical or mechanical wings that help them do Soar, since they are too big to be born with wings.
There is still so much the game can offer, and if you’re done with it, bye, ain’t gonna miss ya. Go back into nostalgia. Go back into the times when it was simple.
Honestly would’ve made more sense to have Jinyu and Hozen as our ‘allied’ races with Pandaren being either a neutral race for the future, or outright refusing to join either faction.
All “sub-races” should be combined into their “parent” race as a customization option.
All races should be able to customize their racial abilities based on what’s available for their parent and sub-races.
All races should have more body options (fat, skinny, tall, muscular, etc).
Of the races you mentioned, the only ones I could see being added as playable adventurers while making sense lore-wise would be:
Tuskarr - Semi-nomadic people, enough cultural flexibility for adventurers to exist.
Jinyu - Actually has a culture (compared to Murlocs) with enough incentive for some to become adventurers (“I go wherever the rivers of fate lead me”, or something).
Drakonid - With “Draconic Equality” explored during Dragonflight, I imagine many Drakonid would to explore other places outside of the Dragon Isles.
I don’t see the other races you mentioned really working or making sense lore-wise:
Coilscar - Monstrous races generally cannot work unless players are okay with nearly zero transmog opportunities.
Sheva - Monstrous race. See above.
Tortolans - Too slow and passive to really be “adventurer battle-ready”.
Arrakoa - Only really exist in the now inaccesible alternate-timeline Draenor, which was closed off when Mag’har managed to come through. Some maybe escaped into the Barrens, but are there really enough around to merit adventurers? Also, their feathery appearances qualify them as a “montrous race”. See above.
Sethrakk - Monstrous race, mostly due to head shape. Plus, their lore outside of Volduun really doesn’t exist.
Saberon - See “Arrakoa” above.
Ogre - Monstrous race, largely due to lore-accurate proportions. Half-ogres? Plausible. A lot of current half-orc/half-ogre characters are just utilizing the Orc character model with a scaled up model size. Playable Ogres could potentially get the “Tauren Treatment” where their model sizes are repeatedly scaled down to a “more reasonable playable size”.
While having more playable race options can enable players to immerse themselves into a particular setting within WoW, playable characters necessarily take themselves out of their “optimal” lore-immersive environments to interact with the rest of the game. As an example, Vulpera work everywhere simply because being a “nomadic adventurer” is literally the race’s MO.
Blizzard hasn’t established any sort of in-game “adventurer’s guild” to easily legitimize literally any race as becoming a playable character. Perhaps some day, they will.
