Allied Race Idea: Arakkoa 🐦

When we first meet them, they have taken on the form of local Draenei. They use us so they can destroy a crystal.

I didn’t read that gigantic wall of text, but it won’t happen especially now that we have zandalari moonkin. I appreciate the effort that went into this though.

If anyone else was in their predicament, I doubt anyone else would do otherwise. It’s an otherwise logical choice to try and avoid suspicion.

But not a good way to build trust.

That depends on who you ask, though. Besides, they did apologize for the deception almost immediately afterwords.

Then after we helped them with their problems in the Spire betrayed us for Fel energy. Because their ‘god’ gave their power to someone else.

That one was Ishkar acting on his own; not the Arakkoa as a whole.

I’m pretty sure I killed more then just Ishkar. With only two or three standing at the camp requesting that I kill other Arakkoa. (once again getting me to do their dirty work)

Dirty work that the player is normally used to doing.

Ehem…

Dark Iron.
Mag’har.
Zandalari.
Massive demand for those 3. Especially the first 2!

People were definitely asking for Nightborne when they saw them.
Highmountain Tauren, or at least their additions, appealed to quite a few people.

While nobody specifically asked for Lightforged, I’m sure quite a few people wanted Draenei that were more “holy” than what we were originally given; I RPd mine with golden eyes and was happy to race change her to Lightforged.

While literally nobody asked for Void Elves, because Blizzard made them up for Legion/BFA, a massive amount of people have been asking for High Elves… with Void Elves being the closest thing.

Indeed. And the Arakkoa are still in a fairly moderate size as far as demand goes.

I feel like Zandalari balance form means no Arakkoa.

Don’t get me wrong though, I would love having them. We need non-mammal races.

Nice design document, but they’ve already been suggested a lot.

Novelty races are not really a big hit, with Blizzard or players. People say, “I’d like a bird dude, or a murloc!” But would they really play those as their main? Would that race even be as popular as Pandas? No, it would not. People really like those elves, though.

You are also very unlikely to ever see old races again, which are not coming out as the subject of the expansion that offers that race; Like you won’t see a Walrus guy now, since you would have seen him with Wrath. You won’t see a bird dude now, since that would have been a race in WoD (or BC.)

With all due respect, Druids used to have a Saberon form back in the day which shares the same model as the Worgen.

Well in that case the worgen came first.

I would play one. I may even race change to one if they could be hunters.

Looking at the Highmountain Tauren, Dark Iron Dwarves, Mag’har Orcs and now Zandalari Trolls (Which were literally the main enemies for TWO expansions in a ROW), I don’t really see how they couldn’t bring back old races or even use copy-paste versions of them.

No idea about Blizz’s view on it, but I don’t think our moonkin form would interfere. It uses the skeleton but it’s still a very different design, and the form is identical for everyone so it’s recognizable as its own thing and not an arakkoa.

Even so, it still has me ticked off… >.<

2007 is calling, they want their suggestion back.

In all seriousness I wouldn’t be against the Arakkoa but people have called for them to be a player race since Burning Crusade. When they announced allied races initially some people were thinking maybe they’d go for them or the Sethakk because they had both been long requested.
