Alliance. Time to Boycott AV

This map of AV give the horde a huge advantage so they are ahead at the start. In case you haven’t noticed their starting cave is 1/3 of the way down the map which is why they get to Stonehearth Graveyard faster that Alliance can ever get to Iceblood Graveyard. Thus starting the Alliance behind from the start. These changes are not good for Alliance at all, and worse for the Horde who I understand are now experiencing 1hr 45min ques. Wake up Blizzard, if you really wanted to make improvements do what you have done but move the Horde starting cave back to the south where it should be.

Ally should just quit AV if it’s going to be a guaranteed loss every time. Unless you’re a masochist and just enjoy being cannon fodder for Horde rankers while they laugh at you.

This is starting faster than I thought, and I predicted it last week.

What’s the alternative? WSG which is full of Horde premades and only gives bonus honor if you win?

You folks never stop whining. Always something around the corner you want to stamp your feet about.

Well, the meta shift, if we want to call it that, is really all about the HpH. How that is accomplished varies per group… because most premades are essentially random Puggers with comms. So it’s not always known what the strategy is until everyone is together to agree on something.

For the Marshalls, the best HpH is straight to Drek, while pulling all LTs along the way. If two direct Drek pulls fail, due to heavy Horde resistance, they often find it better to just give it up and let it end and move on, for best HpH gains.

For other groups they try the RH zerg to some extent, but the success rate is lower, so the safer bet is to go IBGY and form the Triangle and take it a bit slower. Still all about the HpH, just not as quickly as the Marshall zerg. When things fail after a certain amount of time, it’s generally decided to just do nothing and let the game end.

So in both cases, when it’s purely about the HpH, it’s not so much about winning as it is to maximize the honor. Could we win? Possibly; I’ve seen plenty of instances that we could win if we had more defense and waited things out. But that could drag the game out to 45min - 1hr+, and that is in no one’s interest, for the sake of HpH.

I agree. But i find it odd to be worried about one’s win-percentage when they’re play-style is focused around HPH. I feel the puggers are just sorta emulating what the hard-core rankers did, whether it made sense or not for them to do so.

Ignoring the fact we seem to agree to disagree, this is an interesting point. In retail, for a long time, AV was seen as a PvE battleground that the alliance won with the rush tactic. Our win rates seemed to be very good - my AV winrate was high compared to any other BG. So it became the Alliance meta - it never seemed to change.

Horde seemed to have a view “we get rushed and can’t do anything”. ie that was the horde meta.

Then all of a sudden (and I have no idea why this light bulb event occurred) the Horde began defending IB from the start. From this point on, AV became a horde BG. I struggled to get any wins and Alliance kept the rush going for a little while. The problem for Alliance became there were too many pathways and options for Alliance PuG’s to agree on. Meanwhile Horde settled on that single strategy - defend IB with a solid core and roll up the Alliance bases after they wipe and fragment.

I believe that the win rates for PuG Alliance became too low and Blizzard finally started to acknowledge that the map was an advantage to horde (specifically IB). In late 2018 they made some bandaid type adjustments :
“The relentless snow in Alterac Valley has raised the height of Stonehearth graveyard, making it more challenging for the Horde to assault.”
This made Alliance think more about options to deal with the IB issue but I can’t be sure whether Alliance wins have changed recently as I refused to go into AV with the map so geared to a horde win.

That is true. If they’re aiming for HpH strategy, winning is not the primary focus. It would be nice, but can’t complain if it doesn’t go their way because the strategy doesn’t account for the same goals.

Unfortunately we still have lots of players just trying to get an AV win so they can get the Ice Barbed Spear as the quest reward. I’ve told a few before that it’s more likely they’ll get enough rep from AV losses to get their TUF first, before getting the one win for their IBS

Pfft boycott.

How about we just write off the Alliance as toxic and add merc mode?

Some? Some is the biggest understatement of the millennium. They are still crying about P2 in their vengeance posts.

imagine not just quitting, i just got rank 10… time to quit until the game is worth playing, aka TBC

you are literally the problem with this community… all you people do is talk about “toxic” this and “toxic” that… stop trying to make other adapt to your little social bubble… you are literally playing a fox… you furry scum. you are absolutely the problem with this game as a whole.

Well the majority of complaints are coming from greifed Alliance players.

They should get over it, instead of abusing an unintended feature in a misguided attempt to claim vengeance.

trust me, i definitely despise my whole faction. a bunch of losers, hands down.

what are you even talking about

You didn’t pay for an even playing field? I’m really confused. Are you specifically wanting to tip the scale so we can just roflstomp the other team mindlessly. You might as well just be aoe’ing rats at this point.

They have no chance. We zerg, then if we want extra hk’s we just aoe on their recall point and watch the numbers tick up. If we don’t want the hk’s, we have a bubbled pally just pull everything while we click the I win button and end the thing in just 5-6 minutes. It was the equivalent difficulty of running Stockades as a level 60.

I wonder why …

Their mistake. Own up to it or shut up. Just a game.
