Alliance Tauren, and Goblins?

I am in my tenth year of playing, and from the first I thought that there ought to be a tribe of Tauren who joins the Alliance. The Goblins at that time were not playable, and were neutral. I think one tribe of them should join the Alliance.

If Pandarians can individually join either faction, why not Taurens and Goblins?

They did the “neutral race that can pick a side” thing once, to mixed reception, and that seems to have been something they’ve avoided going forward. I can kind of see why; it short-circuits the recognizable faction identity of a given race. Maybe that’s not the best reasoning anymore, since Horde now have a race similar to base Night Elves and Alliance have a race similar to base Blood Elves, but at least their aesthetics are quite different for the most part. I don’t confuse Void Elves for friendlies, but Pandaren… I don’t know, they just seem friendly until one kicks me in the face or something and my wife has to sic her spirit beast on them in retaliation. :stuck_out_tongue:

If you want a tauren tribe, you can take the Grimtotem. They have an established leader in lore who’s hated by the Horde, and they’ve consistently been the Dark Iron-to-Bronzebeard corollary for the Bloodhoof tauren. The “ostracized by their race because of their actions” also fits, given that the Alliance already took in the void elves after Lor’themar gave them the boot for practicing Void Magic.

Not sure about the goblins, though, since they’ve historically been neutral (and even the “neutral” Steamwheedle Cartel has a camp set up right outside the gates of Orgrimmar, and is secretly smuggling supplies for the Horde, as per the mission table). There’s probably other goblin cartels, though I’m not familiar with any, and the Undermine hasn’t really been heard from since Kezan exploded during the Cataclysm. So another one could, I guess, be dreamt up (or fleshed out from a passing mention I missed), but part of the reason that goblins favor the Horde over the Alliance is because of their technological rivalry with gnomes. So I really don’t see it happening in the end, though again, using void elves, we can extrapolate that technically just about anything is possible.

Let’s leave our original horde races out of this, an alliance tauren would break my heart. I can see an argument for goblins, but they really don’t fit the Alliance way, and can you really see them working together with gnomes?

Magatha Grimtotem still living breaks mine, especially since I had to work with her because… reasons… and for some reason, she wasn’t simply executed on the spot. I’d gladly have impaled her with Light’s Heart and hurled them both off the side of the shaman class hall. :stuck_out_tongue: Overall, though, definitely don’t see any Tauren tribes going over to the other side, even with Burny McMurderwitch murdering and reanimating their people in the name of “victory.” Withdrawing from the Horde or helping oust her in another rebellion, sure. But I don’t see them wholesale joining the Alliance anytime soon.

As a matter of fact, Steamweedle Cartel actually employs many gnomes to work for them and there are many instances of goblins and gnomes working together peacefully in lore. Most goblins and neutral and though there is rivalry, the reality is that most don’t want to kill each other.

Oh, I’m glad I’m not the only one that wants that ----- dead.

I swear Magatha for some reason has more plot armor than anyone else in this game, and I JUST DON’T KNOW WHY

BLIZZARD LET ME MURDER HER ALREADY.

You have fun with weapon poisoning magatha now you hear. Tell Her I miss her.

The overall observation is extreme rivalry between the gnomes and goblins. I don’t care about a cute love story between a gnome and a goblin. Its mostly surface level stuff, but go to the barge in thousand needles and break a bottle over someones head…in about a minute you’ve got about 20 dead gnomes and goblins. I suggest you switch over to a gnome and RP that you are a member of the Steamweedle cartel. Can’t we all just wait until the Sylvanas drama is over before we all call for our beloved Horde races to jump ship and become Alliance?

Goblins joined the Horde during the Second War and it was disastrous for them. That’s why, while they may tend to favor the Horde (see: Steamwheedle), they’re loathe to take either side. The only reason the Bilgewater joined is because the Alliance attacked them without warning or provocation as they were escaping Kezan and actively tried to exterminate them once they made it to the island.

[Unpopular Opinion Puffin] I wish Blizzard would allow players to choose faction, regardless of race.

Please God, never let this happen. Why do I keep seeing this idea pop up? Why can’t we just be different and leave it alone? Put a Troll in Alliance armor and I will have a heart attack.

Yas please. I know a good majority of players wouldn’t want this, but still doesn’t stop a good amount of minority of players to wish to choose their factions.
I’d love this idea and will always push towards it. Helps drive the idea, just because you’re born looking a certain way doesn’t mean you can’t try to live your life to the values which you admire the most.

Because, forcing a player to choose a faction based on race is racist. Yeah, I said it; I went there.

p.s., I did prefix my statement with [Unpopular Opinion Puffin], as I figure this isn’t by any means a popular opinion.

In the World of Warcraft the way you’re born does determine your values. Leave this (i hate to say it so sorry) SJW stuff for the real world and let the races of a fantasy video game hate each other. I like a good reason, but hell, even if there isn’t I want my orcs to hate humans and my dwarves to hate trolls.

Pretty sure ppl didn’t care for the neutral races thing for the reason that it was pandas, not so much the concept.

Yes, I’m crazy. Crazy for you :kissing_heart:
Now hurry up and come live in my gingerbread house!

I apologize if you are triggered. I will gladly buy you Hello Kitty Island Adventure to play, if you would please leave this idea alone.

Wow, people still play the “Hello Kitty Island Adventure” card? That almost makes me feel nostalgic.

YUS!!!

YUS, YUS, YUS!!!

I need a cartel of Alliance goblins. please. Please. PLEASE!

Please let me play a goblin on my Alliance server, Blizzard. OMG, please.

It makes lore sense. It makes NO lore sense that the goblins on Horde side would stay loyal to Gallywix. You wrote the starting area story yourselves, so you KNOW I’m right. Have some jump ship and go Ally.
