Alliance / Horde populations @ Classic?

Is there any reasonable speculation regarding what to expect in terms of population balance, when Classic arrives and settles in a bit? Is anyone worried that most players – knowing what they know now – will flock to one side much more than the other, causing a big population imbalance?

It has always been horde heavy…

alliance classes make PvE a bit more bearable and different for the mechanics and horde has a lot more PvP oriented type of racials which makes them really strong and desirable to play…

Personally, I love human paladins/warriors in PvP. They are so hard to stop its insane. And gnome mage!!! ESCAPE ARTIST! playing a gnome right and you are almost never snared.

10/10 on the name.

I have also used many different warhammer names.

#1 favorite has to be Fabrikus for a priest… The most insane and feared World Eaters apothecary that experiments and warps beings with the power of Chaos…

I think it’ll be Alliance-heavy. There’s just too much going for the Alliance for it not to be that way.

I can’t say for most but mostly it was about 45 / 55, (Both factions change) depending on server type etc. Even on P servers this is common.

It was never Horde heavy in Vanilla history, outside of a few rare specific servers. Private servers often lean Horde heavy, but this is an outlier of the demographics involved in private servers.

It’s almost certainly going to be Alliance-favored, especially on PVE servers. Many PVE servers in Vanilla were Alliance-favored by a factor of 2:1 or 3:1. Most PVP servers were more balanced, but still Alliance favored by a little bit (I think Pintero’s estimate of 45:55 is a good one for an average).

Historically speaking, there was an overwhelming Alliance overpopulation in Vanilla. About 1.5 Alliance players per 1 Horde players overall.

The imbalance varied from server to server, but in general it was worst on PvE servers and less bad on PvP servers.

As I understand it, most private servers are PvP and tend towards a slight Alliance overpopulation.

So your best bet of having a server not too out of whack should be a PvP server as long as no high profile streamer or similar person rolls there.

I have a prelaunch community ive been building since the classic announcement and we seem to have a population of about 2.3k horde and 1.6k alliance atm. I really do hope the randoms that end up joining the realm that we choose end up being more alliance heavy to balance out our numbers lol.

This is so not true. Vanilla was majority Alliance in all fronts. Alliance has advantages in almost all aspects. The only thing the Horde has better than Alliance is cross continent transportation. This is largely due to the fact though majority of end game content is on EK where the Alliance has superior FP. Also Alliance has more high level quest than Horde(Wintersprings) and Paladin is the superior class over Shaman.

To get a better understanding we would need to know how many servers are going to available at launch and how many of which type.

The one i’m seeing shows alliance at about 55%-45% on 1 server and about 53%-47% on another server.

Lol. Shamans were better all around than paladins… their damage. Healing abilities. They were amazing

Don’t get me wrong, shamans were great and everyone should play one.

But paladins were absolutely unquestionably overpowered in PVE and of comparable strength in PVP.

… I’m sorry but did you play in Vanilla? Aura’s and seals were so much better than totems any way you put it.

How about the recent private server projects. Are they horde heavy?

I am going to guess considering the current trend, that the Horde will over all be the dominate played faction. Though I imagine similar patterns will occur that certain servers will become dominated by one faction over time.

The one thing that the Alliance has going for it is the Paladin class.

Masses of Human Paladins : Resistance is futile. You will be Hammered of Justiced.

To all you soy boi paladin lovers out there, you are forgetting one major thing about shamans…

Yeah cause every Shaman around is going to have the hand of Rag.

Again no one is going around saying Shamans are bad, but when you compare them overall to what Paladins can do and what they bring, Paladins are much better.

I’m a Horde player through and through, but seals and auras are way better than totems. If you think otherwise please let’s hear your explanation.

Not hand of rag, windfury+stormstrike. In PVP.

You can tell me paladins got better buffs or healing are better in pve all day but no one can dispute that shamans are just consistently better in a damage fight (especially in pvp).

As for this thread, we also forget that leveling a paladin is almost as cancerous as leveling a warrior. You auto attack mobs from 1-60 with a seal on. That’s it.

When your damage output purely relays on a proc, I wouldn’t call that consistent at all.
