NA cant be compared to oceanic because our player pool is SUPER small compared to them. We only have around 5-6 thousand alliance players between BOTH arugal and yojamba. Benediction alone has nearly 6x the amount of alliance players. As a result we often only have 1-2 BGs during the week and up to 6 BGs during weekends.
What this means is, if you queue into a BG and lose… odds are you are going to have the same team and the same opponents in the next game. If it wasnt even close, your win rate suddenly becomes 0% because your BGs arent random at all. On the otger hand. If your team is winning by a large margin, odds are you will keep winning until enough players start pvping to mix up the teams.
If you want to win, just get a group of 5 geared characters with 1-2 healers and odds are you will just sit on a winning streak until you queue into horde players doing the same.
Many of us cried out telling the OCE playerbase that making OCE its own battlegroup was a stupid idea, but too many people think they are reckful and Neilyo and blame the 100-200 ms lag for them being 1200 in arena >.>
At the very least Blizz should consider re-merging us for BGs. I think arena should also be remerged but there are waaay more OCE players that dont want arenas merged than battlegrounds.
I don’t know what’s it like it the USA, but in the Oceanic group it’s a total waste of time to que as alliance unless you’re with a premade I guess…I may just be a washed up 2K+player from WotLK coming back (this toon isn’t terribly geared btw),but I know that for days now all I have been able to get is one mark. Had one win out of four days of BG’n now.The situation does not bode well for WotLK classic --opps didnt mean to delete…

I’ve never seen a player run into a BG field with no gear on… unless you count when I’ve done it. Hey, if my teleporter turns me into an elf chick, I’m going to make sure everyone gets their money’s worth.
This isn’t true. I’ve never boosted and several times I haven’t even been honored with some of the factions. Also, I guess Caverns if Time isn’t a major faction then despite having the blue PvP gear pieces.
There is no skill in battlegrounds, I hate when people spew that.
Battlegrounds aren’t very fun because it’s grindy and WOW is nothing like OSRS, but if I wanted to grind like that I would go with RuneScape.
Alliance tends to underperform and I love when 5+ Horde will spam things like /moan or in WSG drop and pickup the flag over and over again and ganging up on people makes you good.
Super irritating. But with a lot of the horde, if I 1 versus 1 I’ve ripped people apart as a holy paladin when you get the holy shocks in and stack the haste for faster cool downs, etc
Which has drew enough attention to get someone to make a character on Pagle start getting all mad at me…
Gear is extremely relevant, it’s the main reason one side wins most of the time.
Because what’s better than your average player with no gear? Your average player with gear.
There is only one variable in a BG and it’s yourself, but 1 player, no matter how good they are, can only have so much of an impact, especially when you consider which class you are trying to play. Playing an SL/SL warlock who can spread their crippling depression everywhere, like they are listening to cringe music without headphones in a crowded bus, will do a lot more than playing a resto shaman who can’t do anything because 2/3 of the classes can prevent a shaman from casting anything forever.
As a high level PvPer doing battlegrounds as alliance is usually an exercise in futility.
I don’t know why but more often then not your team is horrendously undergeared. Player skill is all over the place for both sides, but my team seems to consistently be in greens/blues while the other is in full s2 gear at the least.
As a result nearly every single BG I do I have to try so freaking hard to win it’s insane. If I queue up with a few friends (whom are geared) it’s like playing 2-3v10 in WSG. AB and EoTS is so insanely difficult I generally only queue it with a full group otherwise you’ll just try your butt off only to lose after 30 minutes. I swear I’ve got like a 30% win rate when it’s a full pug group. It’s crazy
I might sound like a sap but I assure you the amount of effort I have to put in to win a BG these days far outstretches the effort I need to play at ~2500. It’s insane how undergeared alliance is usually. If the horde team has ~2 competent healers it’s going to be a lose since your team literally cannot do enough damage to kill anything, even with CC.
There’s not really a solution for this unless they institute an average ilvl threshold for matchmaking or somesuch
If you went by item lvl you’d probably still end up with a bunch of PvE-geared glass cannons. Might be better to just make it a raw resilience threshold.
I guess we are back to iLvL then. Speaking as someone that tried to walk into BGs with the rep blues and quest rewards as early as S2 and got globalled by a shaman, having 400 resilience makes a world of difference to a scrub like me. So some kind of matchmaking seems to be a necessity.
Nah, pve geared cannons can at least kill things. It’s just people running around in greens/t4 gear getting one shot that are the issue when the entire other team is s2 and above
I’ve been spamming AV on my fresh 70 hunter and it’s been rough. I did have enough honor saved up from playing during pre-patch to buy the S1 x bow, shoulders, and gloves. Yes, I know the S2 gear is available for honor, but it’s also twice as much. I won’t do any other BGs until I have the full S1 set. I still die easily, but at least I can stay back as ranged. I would not want to play a fresh melee right now.
Arugal here, over the WSG weekend I also noticed a lot of fresh 70s in awful greens. Luckily for me I was only running in premades with my guild so we managed ok.
It could be that a lot of people are boosting human alts for the ‘OP’ racial for WotLK- all the tryhard arena guys who reckon human racial will net them gladiator.
It also could be that gold farmers are trying to gear lv70 characters quickly thru BGs- I hope it’s not that.
