Alliance finally winning AV

To interject here… the mindset back in 2006ish was entirely different. Much in the same way that we approach raids differently, everyone now has a lot more knowledge about things like the terrain in AV. I was Horde back then, and what we tended to do was try and rush, eschewing defense for the most part. We didn’t play anywhere near like Horde are today. I even at one point suggested a more defensive strategy, only to be told “we don’t want to cause a turtle.” It was a markedly different attitude, back then. We didn’t take advantage of many of the advantages we could with the map.

I love that people are conflating AFKers with botters. The people getting banned were using macros/bots to automate the process of avoiding AFK, but the hopeful Alliance lick Blizzard’s boots for a change in policy they didn’t make while Horde stroke themselves at the thought of being correct about the map offering no advantage whatsoever.

Meanwhile, Horde win almost every AV still, AFKing/leeching is still rampant, and the only real option players had to remove AFKers was disabled by Blizzard.

It’s a shame Blizzard continues to ruin Classic, but if they’re going to make changes, they could at least have a little foresight and not slap band-aids onto internal injuries. The changes they make ALWAYS cause way more problems than they solve.

This seemed appropriate:

“Alliance win 1/100 avs, totes balanced. It’s not an advantage we’re at your own Captain before you and have the best choke points in the game. That’s just victimhood thinking!”

The race isn’t to Drek. The race that matters for Alliance is to IBGY, and to a lesser extent SHGY.

Perhaps AV isn’t a race at all.

You are deliberately misinterpreting the comment.

All I know is I won all of my AV’s on my grind to r10. Horde are just not good at pvp

We really don’t.

We spend at least 75% of the match arguing about when to kill Bal, yelling at everyone on Offense for not helping Defense while Alliance are capping SFGY/IBGY, yelling at everyone on Defense for not helping Offense when it’s obvious that we can’t take a GY back, arguing about whether it’s worth it to summon Ice Lord or not, complaining about honor leechers just standing near fights and not helping, or just calling each other idiots.

We are just lucky that Alliance is somehow even more dysfunctional than the Horde.

BUT this is what this thread is all about… Alliance players finally winning. Not often at all. I’ll admit i have yet to see it. As the original poster said getting rid of AFKers and making people actually engage in the fight helped them win a couple games. Not changing the landscape or mechanics. I played Alliance the first time through. It gets frustrating when people lay down and take the beating…I know trust me. I was Alliance through BC. The fighting, the people saying just let them win. They are the big problem holding Alliance back. If everyone doesn’t fight you can not win.

Well, sure, it makes a difference, but it goes beyond that. Like I said in another post, the map is still broken, we still have to play harder, but if everyone is actually playing, it helps.

I have never been a fan of “just let them win” or any of this other :poop: but seriously, 178 games to get one win? Really?

Lost my first AV since the pre-mades were broke up last night. Strange that I was pissed, sad, but also kinda happy for the Alliance players. I hate to lose but it’s good for the game to lose once in a while. Don’t expect me to go easy on anyone. Or go soft and stop ganking you annoying little gnomes. I still hate you all… but good luck in AV (when I’m not in Que at least). Moo! #forthehord

I ended up with just a tad bit over 250,000 honor this week. Out of all of those AVs, I lost two games.
Yeah… keep your winning streak going
