Alliance fans: Any enjoyable horde questing characters?

This was something I once idly asked a while back in some random thread but it popped into my head again, and I’m curious what people’s replies would be. While technically anyone can reply, this is intended for people who lean toward alliance as a preference when playing the game for its story.

Assuming it takes place in a true neutral context (the hypothetical quest’s goal is not directed at either faction), are there any horde characters that you would look forward to working with? They don’t have to be faction leaders, but should at least be card-carrying horde members.

Also optional, but if you do have a preference for one or more, what kind of quest(s) would you imagine doing with them? It can be as general as just a concept, and the scope could be whatever you imagine. And if you wanted to pick a canon alliance race to pair with them in the player’s position, what would they be?

“None of them” is an option, but ideally maybe just upvote the first person to say so. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thalyssra and Lor’themar I definitely concur with, they’ve been favorites of mine for awhile.

On that topic, I’d be pretty stoked if we got the chance to work with any of our friends from Suramar again (Oculeth, Valtrois, Silgryn, Arluelle, etc.), and I’m normally pretty happy when Liadrin shows up.

These as well as Baine, Gazlowe, Voss.

I suppose there are some benefits to having a nearly entirely fresh cast of faces as our racial leads lol!

I mean, despite my frustrations with the guy, I don’t entirely hate Thrall. I wouldn’t mind questing with him.

I get what you’re saying but I don’t want anyone to feel like their preferences are being criticized here. I didn’t add any extra restrictions on who people could pick because I felt it would ruin the point of asking in the first place.

I can’t recall if Alliance characters ever worked directly with Gorgonna - I know she had at least an indirect hand in Alliance events in Grizzly Hills (the whole plotline with Sasha intersects), but did Alliance players ever interact with her directly?

Either way though, I concur. I’d love to see her make a comeback.

Look, as awful as BfA was (and god it was horrific for everyone), I truly don’t think we’ve had a cast of Racial Leaders like this. That could truly bring out the best of their respective races, not just their worst … or just use them. Even Geya’rah, as edgy and bare bones as she is, has been shown to have the capacity to learn from her (and other’s mistakes); and her only really defined trait is that she cares for her people’s well being above all else. Its never going to undo the damage, but there may be some good stories here if Blizzard were to just invest.

Not really an “Alliance fan” though I do nowadays play it more than my Horde chars- probably Thrall, Bwonsamdi, Velonara (to mend Forsaken diplomacy). Valtrois and Oculeth without a doubt. Would like to see Halduron, Vol’jin, Rehgar and Ebonhorn in action again.

Im kinda bored of Thalyssra and Lorthemar, and I would honestly take anyone but Baine.

I’m fine with most Troll NPC’s to be honest. There’s an earnestness about them you tend not to find in the rest of the Horde.

That being said, who I would enjoy questing with really depends on the context of the quests.

It’s hard for me to imagine being happy questing with any Forsaken character though. They have a tendency to make everything they touch worse no matter what.

Even Voss I don’t like that much.

Prefacing this by saying I don’t know that I’d call myself an “Alliance fan” I just like some Alliance races, same as I do some Horde races.

I can’t think of anyone I’d absolutely be against doing quests for (outside of Sylvanas and Nathanos but they aren’t Horde anymore) but for specific characters I’d be eager to work with: Lor’themar, Thrall, any of the Nightborne, Gazlowe, Lilian (though those two should have stayed neutral but too late for that), Vol’jin if he wasn’t dead. Do we count Ebonhorn as Horde? I like him but idk if he counts.

To be honest, I’m not quite sure. Ebonhorn would at least be more horde than Wrathion could be considered an alliance character, though. His identity as a dragon doesn’t seem to supercede his position as Mayla’s advisor, so I think he counts.

Additional bonus of having no humans in the faction, there’s no “human potential” to cram down your throat in faction specific content.

Ebonhorn is in my opinion solidly a Horde character. If the Alliance attacked the Horde and Highmountain people or Mayla were in danger he would fight.

I doubt he would go offensive, but yeah. Despite being a dragon he is Mayla’s advisor and has served Highmountain since Huln and that leads him to the Horde.

He didn’t in BfA though, suggesting that there are limits to his support of the Horde (such as the burning of Teldrassil)

Sigh … well until Baine is allowed to become a character of his own and not remain a Pet of Anduin, I’m afraid Blizz has found a surefire way to continue inserting that overbearing “Human Potential” into the Horde as well. Hell, Baine was so worthless that we had to buy him back in the Beta, but the Boy King he’s an accessory to was made THE Jailor’s Weapon (one I’d wager is the equivalent of Sylvie training her own replacement important).

Mayla and her people were never under any direct threat though in BfA so that likely plays a role.
