Hey Guys,
At lvl 80 I got a choice between Cataclysm or Pandaria. I chose Cataclysm, and then got a quest to talk to a guy in Stormwind (alliance character).
However, after a few quests I got a breadcrumb to go to Vashj’ir. But I don’t want to go to Vashj’ir… I want to quest in Mount Hyjal.
So, this means alliance characters don’t get breadcrumbs to Mount Hyjal? Should I just ignore my current quest and take the portal directly to Hyjal instead and starting questing there?
Also, I’ll probably want to go to Twilight Higlands later after finishing Hyjal? Should I always get a starting quest from the Hero’s Call board when going to a new zone, or can I just cut to the chase and just enter a portal?
The Alliance does have a breadcrumb to Mount Hyjal. Check the Hero’s Call board in the Trade or Dwarven District for the appropriate quest.
For Cataclysm zones (except Mount Hyjal), I do believe that breadcrumb quests are required, as the zones are mostly instanced or (in the case of Uldum) the quests start outside of the primary hub.
I don’t recall where the breadcrumb picks up. I think you might be able to pick it up in Moonglade (although I don’t know if thats a druid only thing?).
But yes, you can just take the portal and their should be quests their.
I forget how the Twighlight Highlands quest start for Alliance but for Horde, there’s a few quests that need to be done in Org and Azshara in order to invade and to open up their starter questline in TH.
There’s been a Cenarion Emissary who sends players to Moonglade, which should also trigger a green dragonflight NPC there who’ll fly them up to Nordrassil. IIRC in the past, all players had to get the breadcrumb quest and use the emissary’s special portal to interact with him, but I don’t remember if they kept it that way after changing the main Hyjal portal to activate automatically at 80.
Last I saw, the one for Alliance was a night elf in the little garden next to the throne room in Stormwind Keep, and the one for Horde was a tauren way back in Orgrimmar’s Valley of Wisdom next to the inn.
It’s now just go to the Harbor and get a plane ride from the drunk dwarf. I think they didn’t ditch the 24 stuff until King Andy took over.
