What do you do in the world that isn’t related to quests or events?

Here are the events and quests that many alliance turn on warmode to do and then turn it off after it is done.

1. Call To Arms
2. Against Overwhelming Odds
3. Invasion WQ events
4. Nazjatar PvP event

Alliance participation drops off massively later in the week for the first three for obvious reasons. Nazjatar continues throughout the week since winning gives 10 pearls.
