Alliance AV win instructions

Step 1 - Choke at Icewing Bunker
Step 2 - Let Horde take Snowfall GY
Step 3 - Take Iceblood GY

Congrats, now the horde res in either Snowfall or the cave. You just succeeded at the divide part of divide and conquer. The rest is up to you.

You mean choke at shgy, cause if we choke you at icewing the fight is over already

what is your rank again?

That’s an auto loss if they choke at ice wing bunker sir. Some of us have common sense to simply go around and cap shgy.

Holding the Icewing Choke is a recipe for losing. The Horde will cap SH GY, and now they res 3-4x closer to that choke than the Alliance do, making it trivial to just overwhelm with numbers. Worse, now the Alliance are the ones blocked at Icewing, and can no longer mount any offensives south.

The Alliance needs to capture a graveyard south of Stonehearth, prior to the Horde taking Stonehearth, or it’s an almost guaranteed turtle into a loss. Iceblood is indeed ideal, but the direct push to Iceblood is much harder for pug groups to execute. Snowfall, while not really making any forward progress, at least makes it impossible for the Horde to completely contain the Alliance and deny any offense.

We already know all this, though.

The Horde of course tend to do everything they can to stop this, so you essentially need a large part of your team that follows instructions, isn’t afk/botting/leeching, etc. This is what makes things so hard.

Most of them are just happy enough to get a little bit of cheap honor turtling at SH GY, then half go afk until the game is over when they lose it. It’s much easier, and a small honor bump. Nobody on alliance actually wants to play the game; that’s why they exploited premades until it was no longer an option. That’s also why so many alliance rankers quit when they lost their exploit. They don’t want to do it the hard way.

Sorry there is no choke at icewing bunker, because the spawn point will be in stormpike. Icewing bunker is only a choke point for the horde.

You know your advice and plan sound really good except it sucks so here’s what should probably happen. Immediately at the start allies need to get a stealth group together consisting of druids and rogues while the other portion of their raid defends SHGY. Stealth group has to be large enough to instagib any horde scouters.

Step 2 is head south in stealth if you have to and kill lts by dragging them into hidden locations. Make sure to kill any horde that happen to come by as it will suppliment your honor being away from the rest of the group. Do not engage large groups of horde, this is where you remain stealthed. They will get bored and go look for honor up north.

Do not capture any towers or graveyards as this is a surefire way to bring the zerg back to your location. Some horde will notice your bonus honor going up, and thus you get to gank those inquisitive zugzugers when they come south. After you kill the majority of lts and commanders return to your alliance zerg and rack up 2-3k bonus honor before 30 minutes. Congrats you just made really good (5k) honor in 30minutes and you have no long wait on your queue for the next match.

Between alliance and horde right now if allies played the right way they’d be closer to warsong premades than horde can reach honor wise. Unfortunately they don’t adapt to the new meta. Most of their raid is undergeared since all the gear left to warsong where as horde has many high rankers doing av in comparison. Horde make 4k an hour if you consider queue time and game length while alliance in the same duration could potentially net 8-10k with perfect play even while losing.

That’s not a way to win, though, that’s a way to get more honor while losing.

It’s also a terrible way to START the match - that’s only what you should do AFTER it’s already clear that you’re going to lose and be forced into a turtle.

Also, again, Horde will come after your LTs group no matter what you do. Once they’re spotted, it doesn’t matter if you kill the spotter - they tell the others.

If you want to win consistantly you need to bring back all the gear that left for warsong unfortunately. The premades became super geared during the av premade meta and that loss of gear in your raid comps severely hurts your odds of winning. Chasing the min max honor per hour has really hurt the alliance in av because most of their rankers are gone from it.

Best way blizz could bring the rankers back to av is probably having av weekends, since it is the under used bg for high end honor. The other option being to move the cave back although I’m not sure that would even matter with how many alliance tend to go afk and leech.

If we could reasonably win in AV, all the rankers would be there. I’d be playing more of it rather than WSG too, if it wasn’t for the fact that WSG is objectively better honor, and also has a fair chance to win based on how good your team is. More importantly, how good your team is, is something you control - you’re not subject to the law of averages and pure luck.
