I’m not sure if anyone has noticed this but you have folks in there buying low level mats up and doing a resale for very high price making them rather inaccessible. In some cases make a low copper start bid with some ridiculous 5k per stack buyout for low level cloth. I doubt this is just cloth. Let me tell you that you can bid those copper and never get the item because they will cancel and repost the items. I’m sure this is not just cloth. what makes it worst is others are repeating what they are doing and the higher prices. It may very well be some hordes working on crashing our economy and making sure gameplay is less desirable for alliance, especially the new 70’s coming to the server that have to catch up on professions for wolk. I do wish blizz would step in like they used to back in the day and throw out some bans on these people. The Alliance population rate may go up but its likely going to go right back down too.
Sorry to tell you, the same thing happens on the Horde side as well. Most likely due to the higher Horde population, it has less of an effect. However, it’s just supply and demand you’re dealing with.
alternatively they could just make it all one auction house.
it was eventually done on live.
Sadly, that goes against the whole “faction identity” that Classic provides.
You won’t see that happen.
I want to let you know I have nothing against horde as a faction, my main on retail is horde. The low pop on alliance side makes it an easy target to hurt the economy.
I saw this a lot as a leveling Horde. I remember it distinctly happening with the deadly blunderbuss you have to buy for the Warsong Supplies quest in Ashenvale. It my first toon so I was dreadfully broke and did not have 5-7g to just toss at the AH to get this quest done. I kept going into the city and bidding on one for the 2g starter. I realized the guy was doing what OP referenced after the second time that the auction ran its full time but I didn’t win, yet saw the same item being sold by the same person in the same quantity. Dude was just cancelling it so he didn’t have to sell it that low and then re-listing. This happens with plenty of supplies. Blizz would have to do some monopoly busting to stop this but they won’t and we all know that.
Yeah, definitely an annoyance, and I think we’re all keenly aware of it. When the population shifted, so did many of the…overseas farmers on the Alliance side that were keeping the auction house well-provisioned as they moved over to the horde or followed to Pagle. That means it’s really easy to see the gouging when it happens.
In the end, it works out. It’s harder to find things at times, but we just get things off the horde AH and transfer it over. Other times, we sell things for so much more on alliance side, we can afford to buy things at the higher prices as well. That leaves those that use the AH regularly relatively well-off and expenses like epic fliers and dual spec don’t hit quite so hard. It all works out in the end, though I’d love seeing a merged AH as well.
