Alliance And Horde on same Realm

Can you play characters from both factions on the same Realm?

I have quite a few characters (All Horde) but I’ve been looking to spice up my next character or even switch one of my existing characters to alliance. I want to do this for the mounts, races and even just a new bit on scenery and gameplay.

Is there anything that can go wrong with that?

I realize this might not be the best place for this, but I’m finding mixed answers from everywhere else I look for it.

yes you can play both on the same realm

You’ve been able to for well over a decade.

i think the PVP realms had the no opposite factions on the same pvp realm?
might been a long time but i tried to make a horde on a pvp server and could not

well the new system is relatively new so Im not surpised ur finding mixed answers. Multi boxing should be allowed as long as your paying two subs. Horde and allaince can group together through the group finder I believe. BFA is really good on alliance side imo. I loved the story but have a really hard time being a human so I stick to being a Foxy.

Come Alliance and stay Alliance.

Yeah, it used to be restricted to play both factions on a PvP realm. That changed some time ago, but I would say it’s why the OP is finding mixed responses because there was a time you couldn’t play both factions on a PvP realm.

Also, this is still the case for Classic.

Yes, yes you can.

iirc back in the day if it was a pvp/rppvp server, then only characters from the same faction could be on that server.

Yes I play with characters from both factions on the same Realm.

As others here have explained, you can indeed play characters on both factions on the same server. It’s a good idea however, to make sure there is already a decent-sized population of other players in the faction you want to try, so that you aren’t virtually alone.

In your case, the Kilrogg server, because it is ‘realm-connected’ to the Winterhoof server, seems to have a better population balance between Horde and Alliance than most…about 40%/60%, respectively. You could also start your new character(s) on a new server altogether. I have characters on three separate realms.

Yes you can.

If you are going to faction change though, just take note that it will wipe your quest log clean so you might want to finish those quests you already have progress on first.

One faction has more than the other, like if you’re on a realm that is 90% Horde populated and Stormwind is a ghost town.

There is cross faction guilds, but you’ll still see tumble weeds in Stormwind.

Yes, and now your Alliance characters can even be in your Horde guild.

Not at all, it’s not as different as you might be expecting though.

You can mail items and gold between factions now, so it’s not like starting again like it used to be.
