Alliance and Horde Group Mount Question

My husband and I have many alts. Sometimes we’re both Horde and sometimes we’re both Alliance.

However, sometimes we play the opposite faction of each other.

When in group together, he can’t ride along on my mount and I can’t his.

Why?

We’re allowed in a group together as different factions and do content together, but we can’t ride along?

I really hope this changes.

Same for mages. If grouped with a different faction, they should be able to create a portal for that faction. They don’t need to be able to use it, but they should be able to create it.

My two cents.

I could assume to avoid players being flagged either by taking an ally/horde city portal or kidnapped into a ally/horde area. :robot::thought_balloon:

That, or a weird bit of unintended code in the ride-along mounts’ coding that’s preventing it, and no one ever bothered to test that particular edge case.

But when in group, if a mage set’s down a portal, only the faction of that portal can use it. The coding wouldn’t change that much.

At this point they really should just remove all faction restrictions when not in war mode. Theres no story reason for continued war and its just inconvenient.

Now I think we’re closing in on where the code in question might be – do mage tables work properly cross-faction? Those soul stone things warlocks drop?

That would be cool. Allowing factions to do the opposite factions quest lines. I think that would be fun.

I want to say that they do. I’ve been in cross faction instances and I do believe I was able to get a lock rock and mage cookie from an Alliance player. But I could be mistaken. I wasn’t paying attention to who was what faction.

If that’s true, then it looks like they’ve locked out transportation-type widgets. Which sounds more like a deliberate decision than an accident, since an Alliance player 'porting to Orgrimmar might be … inconvenient. (Or hilarious, depending.)

Blizz can’t decide what “cross-faction” means apparently.

I’m not sure if it’s technical issues or just hard-headedness on their part.

No point in touting so called cross faction game play when in fact it is not.

If I see a struggling Alli out in the wild and he’s going down then he’s toast, I can’t heal him, makes me mad somedays.

Ditto with horde in trouble. I’ll swoop down and divine toll and try to get the aggro off em, but that’s the best I can do /shrug

I do the same. I even wave to those in the opposite faction.

I’m not a savage. Lol
