Congrats, AB is a grind, I’ve done it on at least 3 characters, 2 Rogues, you’ll never want to go back, but we always do.
Well atleast I don’t have to wait 20 mins for it to pop like AV…!
I’ve played against spm a handful of times and they seem to win with ease as alliance. I don’t think it’s so much of a horde favored bg as it is as your average player just doesn’t walk around completely clueless.
Alliance can win if they just play the objectives better. I’ve had only 1 close game in the last few days. Then they made some wrong decisions and we were lucky to make the right ones.
That’s because they are a premade. Not saying Alliance can’t win it, but if Horde defend their choke point at IBGY/IBT really well, it shouldn’t go well for an Alliance pug.
Even against pugs though, I’ve stood with 7-8 horde at the ibt choke and watch 15 alliance fail to take it from us. Is that because of the choke point or that 15 alliance couldn’t kill 7-8 horde?
Don’t forget archers hit hard now, which is a big plus to that choke point. Not to mention the gy is about 20 steps behind ibt. One person dies, they are right back in the fight.
That really probly comes down to those 15 alliance not prioritizing a target has such a healer or an off healer, most likely they’re all trying to individually attack one person. Honestly if you wanna break the choke point at IBT your best bet would be to form A line and their primary focuse are the healers and priority targets while another group works of The graveyard flag. That way you can have a spawn point there by IBT.
Exactly my point. It’s not that IB was a powerful choke point in that situation with a gy right behind us. It’s the fact that the IB choke forced conflict and the alliance players failed miserably. If they all attacked a different target it would still be a 2v1 against all of us but they wouldn’t attack. You’d have them trickle in a couple at a time over and over.
Except IB still is a very powerful choke point. Let’s say they killed all 7-8 of you, you’re still right back in the fight with archers still shooting at them and then gy guards, which can take someone out quicker than any player.
I have fought many IBGY battles in the past as both Alliance and Horde. In BFA it doesn’t happen very often. Horde are able to push SHGY-Towers-SBGY-Dun Baldar without Alliance stopping them, at the most they’ll slow us down.
The problem seems to be as Percivall and JD and others have said-Alliance is simply not playing to the level they should. They also don’t seem to have players stepping up to make the proper call when they could capitalize on a weak Horde team or when Horde make a mistake.
I’ll repeat it again, when you have experienced players who don’t understand how to take a GY there is a problem. It’s not the design of Alterac Valley.
Except they never killed us taking the gy out of the equation. 2/3 of them went into the tower (killing the archers), a couple slammed into us and a couple saw their buddies get rolled and ran away. 15 alliance failed to kill 7-8 horde that day.
It’s why I said “let’s say they killed all 7-8 of you”
I should say too, Horde is not a mindless zerg to Dun Baldar. There are certainly players on Defense and reporting what’s going on in Frostwolf, this is a must.
To be fair while both sides have choke points… the horde choke points are easier to organize with a random group .
Also towers are hard to take compared to bunkers. Put a shaman and a priest in there and watch the attackers fly from knockbacks
The shgy terrain change did help alliance defense but it would have been better if they just blocked the area behind Bal.
You’re right, and it brings up another thought. Do the guards in the Horde Towers aggro when you go up? It seems like they did in the past?? I can cap an Alliance Bunker full of guards as Horde Rogue and never get aggro.
They do but eventually they drop aggro once at the flag
If only there was a way to get into the back of IBGY and come at the Horde from behind, or bypass them altogether and head for TP and FW………maybe a warlock gate or being able to grapple/leap to a certain spot…
It’s a losing strategy which alliance is trying nowadays … you absolutely cannot bypass IBT and hope to win
