Alleria Windrunner

the book of the bow ingame…the story of the legendary bow, and the wc2 novels of alleria …and …blood of the highborne.

You mean the Legendary of Thas’dorah?

Sylvanas Windrunner would become the new ranger-general, but she passed Thas’dorah to her older sister Alleria. Sylvanas needed to help secure Quel’Thalas; she trusted that Alleria, a Farstrider, would have better opportunities to exact vengeance on the front lines.

How does this say what you said?

I guess it does prove that Sylvanas gave Alleria the bow and encouraged her to become a Farstrider, maybe I’m wrong and she doesn’t harbor any resentment. Maybe that’s just headcanon on my part, i’ll admit that.

You post only ONE part of the sources i listed, you know.

From the wc2 novels we know…alleria had no real respect for the eldest in silvermoon, who according to her, talk but not do anything, they talk the all long day and (her mother was one of the eldest, you know).

The bow legendary book talk about the heritageline of the rangergeneral and that infact…a windrunner lead the ranger for over 6000 years. (Alleria was a farstrider 2 thousand years before Sylvanas was born , how should that work?)

But alleria refuse to be next in line, so it was sylvanas who take the mantle.

You didn’t list any actual sources you just said the stuff from WC2… what stuff are you talking about? Which books? I only know of one book, Tides of Darkness and the Sylvanas and Alleria bits are literally two paragraphs.

. As the oldest, Alleria was expected to succeed her mother as Silvermoon’s ranger-general, but Alleria herself had little use for the expectations or traditions of the high elves. She instead focused on practical matters and chose to become one of the Farstriders, a group of rangers that fought for her people all across Azeroth. She made a name for herself after a number of quick, decisive victories. Alleria’s sister Sylvanas would one day rise to leadership in her stead

First book: WC2 novels
Second book: BLOOD OF THE HIGHBORNE
Third ingame book: Tale of the Hunt

…how many more sources do you need?

and…because of Sylvanas “Disagree with her”

“Sylvanas Windrunner would become the new ranger-general, but she passed Thas’dorah to her older sister Alleria. Sylvanas needed help to secure Quel’Thalas; she trusted that Alleria, a Farstrider, would have better opportunities to exact vengeance on the front lines.”

Yeah no i get that, bit where is the source for Liressa not being pleased… Liressa didn’t have a say really. She died. I get that Liressa wouldn’t be pleased but nothing we are saying contridicts one another except for the Alleria having a harder job bit.

The Windrunner family is one - as vereesa said - that takes traditions very seriously (as she explained in her encounter with her cousin), do you really think she was pleased that her daughter didn’t do what was expected of her?

no I don’t Liressa would have liked that very much, and I think that really plays into heavily with my headcanons about how Sylvanas was left to carry those traditions since both her sisters left Quel’thalas. But I don’t really want to discuss my headcanons here lest I be made fun of for them.

But yes I do think that traditions are very important to the Windrunner family and Alleria skirting those traditions may have had some negative reverberations in their family.

One of the things that annoys me about Alleria is how judgmental Alleria was of Sylvanas joining the Horde without any consideration as to how Sylvanas got there in the first place. You would think that Alleria would have more sympathy for her beloved sister. I have an older sister, I know how sisters can be competitive, Alleria’s dream in Shadows Rising I found very interesting because it established a new angle in their sister dynamic that suggests that not only did they compete as kids, but Sylvanas was better than Alleria and made Alleria feel deeply insecure. I hope Golden expands more on that dynamic in the new book because it could reveal more angles to the sisters relationship.

This dream…was made to push sylvanas…before shadow rising, it was ettablished that alleria was…allways better in everything…even sylvanas said…her sister was the best of all windrunners.

well, that was really just what Sylvanas wrote as an epitaph when she thought her sister was dead. Sylvanas could have just said that in memorial as a way to come to terms with her sisters loss. I think comparing each sister is moot but Sylvanas is described as being the better archer even by Veressa, Alleria is described as being the prettiest. Sylvanas seems like most of her vanity and pride comes from what she accomplished ie; becoming Ranger General, which again she seems to have received more on merit and skill than it was simply passed down to her. She was arguably the better choice.

That’s not right, that’s not canon either, before Shadow Rising, it was established in multiple sources (The Sisters were compared multiple times in the novels) that Alleria is the best archer Quel’Thalas has EVER seen.

She has been at the top…for millennia.
