The Events themselves are good. I like having them around.
But some of the balance of the time kind of sucks. Missing the feast, or assault, or primalist storms and having to wait 2-5 hours is not fun or compelling when you have so many different events behind them.
EG: logged in to see the Storm’s Future on. only about 15 minutes left. We get it down to 1 portal. group left behind at one fails and we have to go back and recapture it. Event ends. 15 minutes of time wasted with no rewards.
Now have to wait 3 hours (if I’m even available).
And if I can’t? waiting till tomorrow will have almost a completely different schedule as to when they’re up. Sure I check WoWhead. But having so many of these good and fun events limited in time like this really sucks for casual players who don’t have the ability to sit all day long.
What happened to using Instancing for special events? Things like these would be on-demand behind scenarios? They have so many options to make these on-demand, but instead tied to hourly cycles that can be frustrating to time.
It’s an MMO, a game where the more time you spent, the better your toon would become… and you are Casual, with a limited play time to spare causing your toon to have a big disadvantage.
Me, i am Casual too. I find modern WoW Casual friendly. But if my playtime is not enough for me to catchup on progression, i might quit. But fortunately on me, i am coping up. 4x M+ per week, 4x raid boss kills per week, completing weeklies is pretty casual for me. Ive even completed 29 keys for my Skzera Vaults and now have ilevel 424 Annulet ring. Already completed 4x M+15s for my weekly vault. Btw, im KSM since just last week. It seems i am doing fine as Casual.
WoW is still fine. I’m not even against the occasional use of the time based events.
But seems like Blizzard in this expansion only wants to do them and is steering clear of things like using instancing and the scenerio system.
It’s one of those things. Everything is good in moderation. Provide us with a slew of different means of doing some of these events. But for some reason in DF, they are doubling down on time based events, which kind of sucks for the reasons I mentioned.
I think Blizz realized that these time based World PvE events are popular to many people especially when there’s gear upgrades involved.
But in time, people would have enough gear and would stop doing this.
Right now, the old activities from Cobalt Assembly, Feast, Maruuk Hunting, Wrathion rep, Dragonbane Keep might die down as people flock to the new activity in Forbidden Reach.
As always Blizzard expects you to go to a 3rd party for remedy because they refuse to put basic info on their UI. I just use WoWhead for their event timers.
Just went to try my weekly there. Dead. Nobody at all. I can still solo a bunch to grind so not the worst thing.
I’ve also noticed not a single storm has landed on cobalt assembly while I’ve been online in the last two weeks. Dunno if intentional / random happenstance. But many of these farming areas are dead without a storm on them. Which I think is adding to the feeling for me that they’ve done too much based on time.
I’m not sure what the fix is. Make sure nothing has a timer longer than 1 or 2 hours so that an entire “reasonable” play session can’t go by without witnessing an event.
Make some of the storm’s and their locations more predictable and maybe publish a consistent schedule.
Stagger events so they don’t overlap. Looking at WoWhead timers and now I see that Cooking, Hunting and assault start at the same time. Forcing you to miss other events for one, than waiting for hours to do others also kind of feels meh when there are so many
