All Realms "Incompatible?"

Edit: Issue resolved. For anyone else who may come across this issue, a reinstall of my battle.net client fixed it. It seems TBC Classic had an update that needed to be applied, but my app wasn’t recognizing it and so I couldn’t apply the update. A scan and repair of the game didn’t fix it. A reinstall of the battle.net app did. Right after the reinstall my client started an immediate update for TBC Classic. I’m now in the game fine. Thanks to those in the thread for the help!

Old post: This is the first chance I have had to login to give TBC Classic a try. I plan to primarily play on Classic Era realms, but wanted to make a blood elf and mess around a bit.

All realms are red and say “incompatible.” If I attempt to login to a realm I am automatically disconnected. I am on an account that has sub time and I chose Burning Crusade Classic from the dropdown menu on the launcher.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks, I will give that a try. I just tried logging into Classic and not having any issues there. I’m seeing the option in green to choose which expansion for my characters. My issue only seems to be with TBC Classic.

I will give what you said a try though. I had just logged into the battle.net launcher and there didn’t seem to be an update. I will restart it.

Edit: Hmm, I restarted the launcher and the game completely. Still having the issue. It’s just odd, only happening with Burning Crusade Classic. Do I possibly need to choose an expansion on one of my Classic characters first? I was planning on making a fresh level 1, wasn’t going to play one of my Classic characters.

maybe we have to make the lvl 1 on classic and then pick which route we wanna take, Crusade has not started after all, just pre patch, not sure tho.

Sounds like you need to DL TBC, or are you trying to get into PTR without making a ptr acct?

I did a google search and found an article on Blizzard’s site that has this issue listed and possible ways to fix it. I’m trying those fixes now.

It sounds as if there is definitely an update needed but for some reason my launcher isn’t detecting the update. So I’m running the scan and repair tool right now to try to patch in any missing files. If that doesn’t work they recommend resinstalling the launcher. And if that doesn’t work, reinstall the game. Fun stuff! lol

Edit: To Confess above: since it won’t let me reply to you separately since I was the last person to post in this thread. I downloaded the BC Classic client last week. This is just the first time I have had the chance to try it, been busy.

I’m not trying to get into the PTR, but Burning Crusade Classic which I chose on the dropdown menu and made sure I was on the correct account. From what I am finding, it seems to be a bug that happens sometimes after a hotfix or update. Hopefully those fixes work.

on the main page where you choose if want classic or retail or forums ect did you click where it says game update ? that link might direct you in the right direction , that is if you missed it.

I just clicked the options on the launcher for Burning Crusade Classic and clicked on “check for updates.” I saw it checking for updates under the “play” button and it says it’s up to date.

Unfortunately the scan and repair option didn’t fix my issue either. I’m going to try a reinstall of the launcher next. But it’s odd, my client keeps saying it’s up to date. Kind of ironic I guess because I had major issues with the game when TBC launched back when it was live long ago. Feels like it’s happening all over again somewhat. My pc’s don’t seem to like Burning Crusade client much it seems :stuck_out_tongue:

ya that sucks, hope you can figure it out soon, maybe get a post in tech support going also. they know how to fix most issues, can be slow to respond tho.

Thanks so much for helping, I really do appreciate it!

I just did a reinstall of the battle.net app and Burning Crusade Classic immediately started an update. So hopefully my issue will now be resolved, getting ready to check. Looks as if a recent patch or hotfix conflicted with my game or launcher and hopefully the reinstall has fixed it.

Edit: So the reinstall of the battle.net launcher did the trick and I’m now in the game. Finally got it working, thanks again!

is retail up to date? I had an issue earlier that told me BC classic was unavailable until after retail updated.

All of my games on battle.net are up to date. It’s now working after doing a reinstall of the battle.net app. There was a TBC update that needed to be applied that my launcher wasn’t detecting and wasn’t allowing me to update, so it was showing all my realms in red and incompatible.

But thanks for the tip! It’s why I asked here. I thought some others may have had the issue and could tell me what fixed it for them. Thanks!

Edit 2: Restarting my computer fixed the issue and allowed it to update. For some reason. I’m not sure why, but it did.

I have this exact issue. However a reinstall of the battle net launcher did not fix this for me. The game needs an update that it is not updating. The launcher recognizes there’s an update but it is not updating. I cannot click on scan and repair, I cannot click on check for updates, and I cannot uninstall the game from the launcher. I can only click on modify install but I cannot actually modify the install, the box is grayed out. Even when I reinstalled the battle net app the burning crusade classic game was found but grayed out so I couldn’t actually undetect the game and manually locate it myself. I need a response.

Edit: I’ve clicked on Game Settings and the Use a Different Folder button and Reset In-Game Options button are all grayed out. When I hover over it, the box says “Unable to change folder while installation, update, or game is in progress.” The game is not installing, the game is not updating, and I am not running the game. So it sounds as if it is attempting to update but is not actually updating. Nothing is indicating this, so it’s as if my install is frozen.

I’m having the same problem, unfortunately.

I reinstalled battle.net, no help. Scan and repair option isn’t clickable. Guess i’ll restart my PC now.

EDIT: Well, restarting the PC worked for me too. It forced an update for TBC.

Thanks guys.

I just open task manager and hit end task on world of warcraft, and the launcher immediately started installing the update.
