Hey all. I posted a few days ago about upgrading my current PC but it appears it isn’t much of an option. Attempted to replace graphics card but even a small 1050 won’t fit.
My gaming needs are minimal. I’d love to play WoW on high settings. Other than that, it would be cool to be able to play Cyberpunk, but I have a console option for that so it’s no deal breaker.
I had this model suggested to me and I thought I’d run it by you guys. Everything looks decent for general use, but I’m not sure about the integrated graphics card. Good enough for WoW? For anything else?
Model is an HP all in one, 27 in., d0230z
Not a gaming computer, but I’m not sure it needs to be for my needs
If upgrading to play WoW is your primary concern, don’t get an all-in-one. They are basically laptops (and thus graphics-unupgradable, which you’ve learned) but are generally less useful since they aren’t portable, and usually offer lower performing parts since they are targeted at a completely different demographic.
Consider a mini-ITX build, an SFF gaming PC, or even a real gaming Laptop so at least it’s portable and tend to have more powerful component options since they’re often targeted at gamers.
Gotcha. I looked into those small form PCs but building my own is a bit more than I want to take on, honestly.
If I went with a laptop instead, I’m looking at this budget friendly Acer, 9th gen i5, Gtx 1050, 8 GB ram, 256 ssd. From reading around online, looks like it could play WoW pretty well. Possibly on the highest settings? Not sure how it would do with any future games though. Does this seem like a decent option?
What’s your budget and location?
A few months ago I changed my daily driver machine from a custom built 6700k/5700XT tower to an iMac (tower needed to go to the living room for shared-with-aptmate game rig purposes). The iMac’s CPU is a Xeon that’s a few gens behind and its GPU is a Vega 56, so it’s not really suited for serious gaming, but since WoW and older titles are all that get played on it (it’s a work machine first and foremost) games generally run just fine at 2560x1440.
So anything with a GPU at least equivalent to a Vega 56 will probably work well, but make sure the model in question has decent cooling — this particular model of iMac has a beefier heatsink and so it rarely throttles but many if not most all-in-ones will get very hot very fast and then start throttling, which will drag your FPS down dramatically.
7 liter super small build.

Houston area. No specific budget, but probably not worth it to me to get anything too high end as I likely won’t get enough value out of it. Ideally less than 1k.
Do you need space savings or is a tower OK?
You just missed a bunch of decent BF deals on prebuilts…there was a 3600/RTX 2060 for $699 i think at one point.

That’s a hell of a deal. Right now on the Dell outlet I see a intel i3-10100-512GB nvme SSD-8GB RAM-GTX 1650 super build for $600. That will play WoW at 1080p 60hz with no issues right out of the bag. They also have a i5-10400 version for the same price but it drops the SSD so you will need to get one for the game.

Walmart has a Lenovo Legion Laptop with a Ryzen 4600H (6C/12T), 1650 TI, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 120Hz Panel for $789. Pretty sweet little deal.

Would an HP Omen with similar stats be decent? Looking at an i5 10400, 8gb ram, 512 ssd, and gtx 1650 4gb gddr5 for 840. That’s more than the Dell with similar specs, but from what I’m reading, more upgradeable in the future if I decide to update parts. Again, very much appreciate the advice. I’m learning a lot quickly but there is a lot I don’t even know to consider yet
Can’t speak for certain, but a similar model HP on a Costco website had terrible reviews and I personally have poor experience with HP products.
I got my parents Dells and they really like them, and haven’t had any problems with them
My work laptop is an HP, and it’s trash.
My personal laptop is also an HP, and it’s also trash.

Do you know if the 10th gen i5 and 1650 super would get to the highest settings or just mid range settings? Any potential for at least approaching other modern games, albeit on lower settings for those? This is where I’m leaning right now.
The Dell outlet has a step up to a 1660 super for an extra 90 which may be worth the potential for other games
the i5-10400 and gtx 1650 super will handle WoW on the highest setting (no ray tracing obviously) at 1080p 60FPS. You may see dips here and there but you should avg 60FPS.

Do you think a 10 gen i5 has the potential to run a new game like Cyberpunk, of course not on highest settings. Their site says an i7, but looks like an older gen.
Depends on the video card as well.
Yes, the i5-10400 would be very similar to the i7-8700 non k in performance. It’s a capable gaming CPU for any modern game as long as the GPU is up to par.
