I guess that depends on your spec, I haven’t really seen any table for all specs but I think most will use it now.
That’s pretty surprising, I wonder if it’s just a handful of specs that don’t benefit? With current gems the ring is -20k dps as MM hunter; once we get fathomdweller’s its +20k.
If people don’t notice, it increases play time metric.
Player time spent in game is their #1 metric now. They hardly even care about sub count at this point. If they can make you spend an extra hour a day doing nonsense then it is a huge win for Blizz.

No flying is different from timegated content like waiting for certain mobs for certain gems.

Yea but they never seem to figure out that if im enjoying myself, unrestricted, im gonna play like 3x more than when i have to sift through bs gates and nonsense. Every time im hindered, thats more frustration and a shorter tolerance of tom foolery

I agree but their bean counters seem to think differently. I doubt they touch the game at all. Prob went to Harvard and got statistics degrees.
They’re def gonna nerf it in season 2 like they did with the ring in DF if it ends up being more powerful than current gearing options. Nothing is going to be balanced around this ring in S2.

Weren’t the problem.
Endless grinds and restrictions because of those borrowed power systems were the problem. A borrowed power system that isn’t overly restrictive and doesn’t require some endless grind (like artifact/azeroth power, soul ash, etc) is fine.
This ring isn’t an endless grind nor does have ridiculous restrictions on it.
I mean at the end of the day I feel like even with all the gems, this ring will more than likely still be garbage. As it stands the only gems that are good for you are the stat gems, which just makes it a stat stick item, over actually having some use as a gimmick item like they want it to be.
Yup and yet weve proven them wrong time and time again, its laughable at this point.

Yeah, systems that were overly grindy and restrictive, like artifacts, azerite, covenants and SL legendaries were.
Minor things like Circe’s Circlet and the Onyx Annulet not so much.

The thing is we already have other systems for that, we have the ring upgrade and the flying unlock. Going for the triple timegate was a bit too far.
