I am a warlock and I utterly detest how desto plays and wont play it. Looking for a class that is fun and pretty which shaman is looking good for.
How are all 3 specs? I’ve heard conflicted things about enhancement and its survivalbilty which hinders its raiding ability and what not.
I havent heard anything about ele, so I hoping to hear good things on that front.
Resto is very pretty, so I hoping that is also good and fun.
Yes all three shaman spec are perfectly fine for all content and excel at their role in PVE.
Resto shaman has some difficulties with extremely high keys. However, for the 99% of player base resto does extremely well in the keys they do.
This being said; shaman is one of the last classes that takes work. The best spec of all 3 are the most complex. You can play a watered down version of all 3; however your performance will not be as good as the more complex specs.
Shaman takes work and once you get good and get geared the hard work pays off.
Im going to be upfront: Shamans take work man. The one upside that I can say is that all three specs almost exclusively run off the same stats. Also for elemental spec, pumping out max dps is akin to how knowledgable your tank is. If he keeps pulling stuff out of your EQ and MT, your dps falters. So, having full knowledge of your spec will really help.
I played Elemental for quite some time, and I admit, I wasn’t very good at it. My dps scores were hit and miss in higher keys. I switched to Resto, and I found my niche. Im quite good at it, and I enjoy it.
Plus, look at it from this perspective. 1 melee spec, 1 ranged spec, 1 heal spec. Melee for weeks like this one with bursting, ranged for quaking and sanguine…shamans are versatile, which is what Im getting at. A LOOOOTTTT of people are going to hate on you; getting into keys is rough because of fanboy-ism; I have a 120 warrior tank, 120 paladin that is dead to me, 120 hunter, and my shaman…and i’ll never look back.
Enhancement is fine in PvE, your survivability is not an issue. PvP is another issue.
Coming from Warlock, you’re probably going to feel like Enhancement is a limp noodle until you deck out in the ideal Az traits and essences. Elemental will probably feel pretty decent, and healing I’m sure is fine enough at least.
I went from Shaman to DK to Lock this expac, and it’s absolutely frustrating how much TLC each Warlock spec has individually compared to what Enhancement is sitting on right now. But, I love/miss my shaman, so here I am, trying to find a way to make it work on at least a limited basis again.
