Having a lot of trouble making Lightning Rush really work for me, especially on the race courses where it’s supposed to be used. What’s happening is that I can’t turn in time to make the next loop and wind up overshooting it. (Yes, I’m aware the tooltip warns that you can barely maneuver, but I’m trying to learn to use this as it’s intended, and keep failing.)
Does anyone have any tips to how to make this workable on the courses?
It’s the worst ability ever, I just refuse to use it. So unfortunately, I am of no help to you.
I generally find both types of abilities in that slot pretty useless.
The Outland races had a couple of spots where it could be used effectively. The combination of needing to fly close to a cliff for a while then have a long straight run doesn’t really happen much in the dragon isles. I have a sneaking suspicion it will fit more with the geometry of the zones in WW.
the only way to provide assistance here is really for me to just tell you to google a video for every race you are trying to get gold for.
there a few races where lightning rush is extremely useful and makes getting a gold time for the challenge course trivial.
watch the video see where they use it, pay attn to how and where they build up their stacks (maybe get a weak aura for showing you the stacks better).
most courses it cannot be used - either because there is no straight line that is long enough or no cliffs to build stacks
What I’m attempting here are the special storm courses in the Dragon Isles, which do have that combination of close to cliff then long (almost) straight run. After running a few of them repeatedly I’m seeing that part of the trick is to not use it right away when it procs but wait a few seconds. Also it shoots you forward so fast it means your reflexes have to be super attuned. So far I haven’t been able to get better than bronze on any of them. Maybe I am just too old and slow, lol.
