In WoW, it’s pretty common to see players chatting, dancing, and drinking. Now I can’t change what they do, but I can ask my nerd friends on WoW head why they drink alcohol in WoW, when all it does is make your screen blurry and announce to everybody you like wasting your money on pointless drinks that help NOTHING. 
Because it’s fun?

I suppose your right. this is a very my-opinion conversation. I find it a tad pointless, and i wonder why people do it. but who knows? maybe y’all might convince me to try some!
It’s really all about what you personally enjoy. Some people find it hilarious to get on a flying mount and end up having it go off in different directions. Others enjoy the slurred speech. And some just find it fun for RP.
My best friend is Irish. Social drinking is part of life for him. And he extends that into RP. It’s lots of fun. 
I suppose so! I personally do not drink alcohol much, maybe thats why i dont drink in WoW 
Fun fact-it also changes the level of the mobs. So you might try to go fight a 120 and his portrait will say like 118 or something for instance. Or at least that is how it use to be,long time since I’ve gotten drunk in game.

As for me, it’s mainly for RP. I don’t really drink in game otherwise cuz it kinda makes it hard to move anywhere. It makes doing those pirate quests in Thousand needles SOOOOOOOOO annoying

Also give the wrong level of mobs, so you might accidentally engage something that is a little to high, not know it and get smashed

Sometimes alcohol ends up in my bags and I’ll binge drink it to clear space because there are no nearby vendors.
Not just in college I do that in WoW too.
