Its a complete waste of time and resources. 2 Days ago i blew up 4 times in a row after the debuffs that’s an hour of time wasting, today 3 times in a row blown up.
At 20 mycobloom per experiment , i have wasted 140 mycoblooms for nothing. a lush mycobloom gives 2 if you are lucky so thats a lot of farming time . And i have all my herb and Alch points in mycobloom to try and help.
So clearly the best bet is to stay away from wild experiment and just do the meticulous experiment.
Blizz did post a blue saying they were going to fix this but clearly they didn’t.
If youre only testing with 1 herb youre not going to get results, you need to put in the recipe youre fishing fors main herb now to learn them, its not random, you cant just spam the low quality cheapest one like DF to try and get them all.
The blowing up is annoying and the proc rate even with correct herbs is still to low though.
While I am not exploding (Formulated Courage makes it so you dont) I have dont 15 in a row now with not a single item learned. Considering I only have 4 items learned that his horible. (Though I mainly wanted to post about the phial to save some time)
No, this can’t be it. I had the same thought and have tried herb after herb. BOOM!
I don’t have a problem with mechanics like this. They add flavor to the game. But professions are supposed to be productive, not wasteful. I don’t know where they got it wrong but whatever randomizing algorithm they’re using is obviously broken and needs to fixed. There are simply too many players having too many failures.
This is what I am doing. I am a PhD student who is doing physical chemistry, I will keep my PC on in my office with wow open while doing my experiments. Every 30 min - 1 hr, I will pop to my office to just click on the experiment with different herbs when I waiting for real life reaction, I lost count how many failed in a row in two days unless I am running Meticulous Experimentation.
I also would like a little more information about this, because all i see are gossips.
No accurate intel…
The spell description doesn’t say a thing about any kind of relation between the herb and some kind of recipe “range”…
We need more info!!!
It’s a bit ridiculous for sure. I’ve blown up the last 5 times and have given up. I’ve got like 10 recipes learned while I’ve got like 30 engineering recipes by just scraping junk and not blowing up every 15 minutes. Alchemy is just not rewarding outside of the flask duration.
I absolutely hate it. I’ve wasted so many herbs as to through Meticulous Experimentation I haven’t got any good recipes so I keep trying and trying. The worst part is when I’ve been successful, I didn’t learn any new recipes. Just a few reagents back and a worthless potion. It’s so frustrating
I actually get anxious now when I start crafting Wild Experimentation waiting for that bloody BOOM!
It’s a silly lottery and a crap mechanic and it needs to go. My five cents
This is horrible. I have been trying since yest at some points every 10 min wasting 100’s of herbs to just fail…Did my meticulous yest morning then started the wild…boom…boom…boom I am constantly blowing up. I have done well over 15 wild experimentation’s and have blown up every time but 1 and didn’t even learn a new recipe the 1 time I haven’t blown up. This really makes me want to quit alchemy. The only recipes I have learned have been from the meticulous experimentation. It is sad that now this has become a running joke in group…time to go blow up! I just hang my head and cringe now when I push that button …so many wasted herbs! Please for the love of our sanity fix this!
I think there is an internal cooldown. You can get 2 new recipes with experimentation per day. OR you use that potion I don’t recall its name which lets you to go for more - unlocks at 30 kp on the first prof column.
No need to get frustrated, esp after the hotfix it has become super ez. I have all the recipes after 4 days.
