Alchemy - What are we doing?

Currently - Alchemy is the most important profession in WoW for PvE content. Every single consumable item you use from phials to oils to potions comes from alchemy. Nobody else does it. Yet it presently is the most abused. We have

  • No work orders outside alchemy stones nobody ever wants
  • No plethora of quests to get reputation with Artisan’s Consortium for the rep and profession knowledge
  • The slowest levelling path with our skills and recipes being on a 4 hour CD of experimenting where we roll the dice on whether or not we get to level or wait another 4 hours.
  • Our best potions and phials are gated behind dropping in the raid so the alchemists who don’t raid are going to have to drop this profession they’ve used for years to get another one if they want to do anything with it. (This doesn’t affect me, I raid, however it does affect those who don’t)

It’s a genuine and real fear that people are going to look at this profession and determine that it’s not worth the gold sink and RNG to level it up and just not even bother. There’s no reason for any of this to be a thing. Please consider making steadfast changes to this and putting Alchemy on a level field with the others. The entire profession is significantly behind the others for no reason.

Counter point, and yes I am annoyed too, but let this ween out the weak. Alchemist who stick it out will be making major gold in the long run.

That’s not true. Plus advanced experimentations are only 2 hr cd on failure

Well I dumped 3 gnoll babies in cauldrons yesterday in Valdrakken and got 3 alchemy level points so, well…we can do that

I found that one amusing

My favorite part is when I blow myself up on my first experiment!

In all fairness, I’m having a lot of fun with professions still!

I haven’t found it any slower than Inscription, Enchanting, or Tailoring. All of my professions are pretty much stuck in the same place, waiting for reputation and recipes.

The cooldown is easily overcome with liquid courage, which I’ve gotten enough of to make it truly less painful. It’s been more fun, to be honest, less costly, and just as fast to level as the other professions I’ve been dealing with.

Inscription is a nightmare…at least alchemy has health and mana pots right from the off. NOTHING we make with inscription is worth anything to anyone until they finish specializing.

The most frustrating thing with this is, if you leveled alchemy in the first 5 days of the expansion you just logged out and logged back in to avoid the 4 hour cooldown so basically everyone who got in early is done with it.

At this point you just straight up remove this now.

It’s aggressively anti-fun. I get home from work at 7pm and go to bed 10:30-11. If i basically get a single cooldown that’s it for the day.

The issue is it fails on the first or second attempts 90% of the time so we are having a progression blocked for no real reason. No other profession has this issue.

Even with the pot to be able to end the CD on the experimentation we only very rarely receive them on top of the extremely high failure rate.

Agree with. Well…ALL OF THIS. I dropped it.

I have had zero cooldowns in experimentation, and still can not advance because of the one regent that needs 5. But i can tell you, Alc is the most contrived profession in the game, along with cooking!

It’s the easiest and cheapest profession outside of gathering to level and Alchemist’s still complain. At this point they could just give you 100 skill in Alchemy and people would still find reasons to complain.

For real, guys, it’s week two.

Check out the Knowledge Treasures. Each prof has 7 or 8 besides gathering.

The issue isn’t gaining knowledge, it’s skill levelling due to it only being available via experimentation past a certain point.

Again, try it for yourself.

It is not worth messing with the raids, or those long cool downs…just not worth it…wish they woulda done better with this…saddens me I wont be able to level it this time
