You can make Alchemy potions as soon as you learn the profession, but the potions have a level requirement much higher than you usually are when learning it.
For example, a level 15 leveling in Northrend can make potions that require Level 26. What exactly is the point of that? I understand if you’re max level and won’t need them, but if you’re leveling, you probably want to use the items you’re making. Seems like an arbitrary level requirement that shouldn’t be there or should be lowered to maybe level 15.

This is a huge issue. I created a new character, went to BFA at level 10, and started to learn alchemy. I’m currently level 13, and able to make potions that I can’t use until level 40!! How is this supposed to work?!

I just ran into this with enchanting also. I’m just running my new priest through BFA and my items are too low level to take the enchants, even though the tooltip has adjusted values for the stats. It doesn’t state what the minimum ilevel is either.
