I have a Fishing Journal and an Herbalism Journal now, but no Alchemy Journal in the Dragon Isles. When I go to train Alchemy here, I can pick up recipes based on my level, but I can’t do the initial Alchemy Training for 10 copper. I’ve been to the initial trainer starting in Wingrest Embassy, and went back and checked in Oribos, Boralus, and Dalaran, thinking maybe I just missed a trainer in one of the expansions. But none of them are able to train me in Alchemy.
What am I missing, and is that why I don’t have an Alchemy Journal in Dragonflight?
There is no journal for Alchemy (or Jewelcrafting or Leatherworking or Blacksmithing). The journal shows up for gathering professions since you don’t have professions ui for them like you do for crafting professions.
Thank you for that. Shouldn’t I still be able to train though?
Initial training cost 100g in Dragon Isles, and you’ve already paid it based on your being 20/100 Dragon Isles Alchemy.

Where do I find the recipes for Classic and Cataclysmic alchemy? I am a 53 fire mage gnome. Do I have to go back to my homeland and start from there? Can I find them on the auction house?
An old world Alchemy trainer in any major city should be able to sell you recipes for the Classic and Cataclysm. Sometimes you have to scroll down though to see what is available.
Yes, there will also be recipes in the AH that you can purchase as well.
There is a bug where sometimes the initial profession training will show back up as available on the trainer even though you already have it. If you are able to access the Alchemy crafting window from the Professions pane, then you are set.
