Alchemy is punishing slow and has too many RNG mechanics and does not make the game enjoyable to play. Please look into fixing the parts of alchemy that make it a grindy, punishing mess. Those parts are:
-Reduce the amount specialty materials to craft things as basic as potions
-Reduce the amount of multi stacking specialty materials for Phials
-Reduce the amount of time gated “accidents” when trying to discover new recipes from 3hrs to 1hr
-Improve the amount of rare herb spawn’s points
-Make more recipes learnable from the trainer
-Increase more opportunities to acquire knowledge outside of the few quests you can acquire

Professions in general suffer from X material that is overflowing in abundance, but there’s a limiting reagent that you take around an hour to farm 3 of. Awakened Air, lack of access to Awakened Fire and Awakened Earth in herbalism to craft the elemental potions.
With full R5 gear and investment into the potion lore line, I still cannot guarantee gold rank potions of elemental power.
For fishing, Islefin Dorado is extremely rare. In about 2 hours of farming I found maybe 2-3 pools.
And then I noticed I’ve been just bleeding money because instead of making Phials of Glacial Fury without the phial spec is a waste of gold, you won’t craft any phial above bronze rank, and instead you should sell the bubble poppies and other materials to buy yourself the flasks at silver or higher quality.
Essentially, they gutted the baseline functionality of the profession to make room for their crappy profession specialization tree progression.
And it’s all to distract from the fact that Dragonflight is a very barren expansion in actual content.
This is actually an interesting point. I’ve crunched the numbers and unless Blizz plans on releasing full epic profession equipment for alchemy, it’s mathematically impossible to hit the 400/450 skill requirement for endgame potions, even when accounting for lesser illustrious insight. For example, this is my current talent tree https://www.wowhead.com/profession-tree-calc/alchemy/BAjPEG0f6UBABZBABABejQCG0gueBPBABABAByj0FB1OzA
WIth 3 star mats, my current skill bonus for a 450 potion, like Potion of Chilled Clarity, is placed at 345. If I invested the next 60 knowledge points into both Frost Formulated Potions and Decayology, I’d be at 415 total skill point bonus. Add in 30 skill points from lesser illustrious insight, and I’m still 5 points off from the tree star requirement at 445.
The only exception to this, funnily enough, is becoming a goblin for the racial 5 skill bonus to alchemy to hit 450. Or Blizz releases epic level profession equipment for Alchemy.
Not to mention their tree is super unclear as to what affects potions until you’ve invested in it. Do the frost and air potion skill contributions from the talents factor into elemental potions? Who knows, so since I don’t want to end up with surprise dead talents I just invested in alchemical theory in the meantime.
