The way you have the Alchemy profession set up is just terrible. It is much too slow. You only allow us to learn a bare minimum of recipes then leave ALL OTHER recipes to be discovered through the HORRIBLE RNG laden “discovery” process.
The catch is that I can only do ONE experiment A DAY. That is right, TWENTY FOUR HOURS for ONE experiment. That is whether you learn ONE recipe or not. More often it is NOT because I keep having it blow up in my face.
You have another more “wild” option to experiment, but even that is on a timer (one hour?) I am not sure. At this rate, it will take me MONTHS to get the recipes I want/need. I STILL haven’t even gotten a single flask recipe or a single buffing potion.
This is unacceptable and FEELS TERRIBLE. PLEASE, stop this nonsense and let us learn more recipes the way we always have- by learning them from the trainer as we level the profession up. As it is now, it just makes me want to quit alchemy altogether.

the side options in the talent trees are supposed to make it easier/more effective
the purpose in RPGs is to take a long time so that you feel a sense of reward after sticking with it
it’s the same with inscription, so maybe I assume all the profs are the same
working as intended
RPG is not shootemup

It’s the same garbage they did in Dragonflight alchemy. I will never touch alchemy again until that discovery mechanic is gone.

They took the DF mechanic and shot it full of steroids for TWW. It is much worse. They literally only gave us about two recipes from the trainer and everything else needed to be discovered.

Well at least people don’t have to set an alarm every 4 hours all day and night to do their next experiment like they did in DF.

They did add a slight buff TWW in that you can only get recipes with the ingredients you experiment with, so if youre looking for one type of potion or flask you can narrow down the experimental pool to try and get it.
The rest, yah its pretty bad. You kind a have to go for the liquid courage if you want a decent time to reset the experiment timer constantly or just wait and hope.

Can you get liquid courage in this expansion? I haven’t seen it. Do you just buy it on the AH?
Ooooh, thank you for this bit of info, I may have wasted alot of herbs already, but I can stop repeating with the same herb now.
They then tie it up in the spec trees OP I think to make things quicker.
All just a lame way to inject rpg flavor but in all honesty, whoever is running the professions side of this needs to go work on diablo immortal and they need to get someone better for professions on that team.
I got 2 or 3 quickly.
Since have used over 1000 herbs with zero discovery

Well than someone should tell that to the gathering professions. I maxxed out both herbalism and mining before I even hit level 80.
And here I was giving Blizzard some credit with that new mechanic that lets you spend resources (concentration, was it?) to guarantee a level + on crafting instead of it being total RNG. Doubling down on the Alchemy discovery mechanic with the arbitrary CD when you fail is not great imho.

I think its soulbound, its a unlock from the alchemical mastery tree at 25 or 30 cant remember at the moment.
It makes you immune to the debuff after exploding so you can just keep wild experimenting indefinitly if you have enough.

Alchemy does indeed suck terribly this time around. I have mining/blacksmithing on my second character and it is far easier and more fun to level, with more immediate and substantial rewards.

I’m right with you, I’ve had 1 successful 24hr one since early access launched. I don’t remember having this much of an issue in DF with alch. Even the wild ones are failing 90% of the time. RNG should be just that, random. Its not random when its always happening. Fix this Blizz ffs.

Discovery wouldn’t be so bad, if the failure rate wasn’t so bad. I am 1 success in the last 8 attempts. Most of them the daily experimentation with a handful of the wild experimentations.
I have even tried more valuable mats and concentration.
Hopefully the changes they are about to make will help out. I still think they rely way too much on the experimentation system but I guess there is no changing that at this point.
They did make some changes, which were welcome. They made the meticulous experiments 100% success rate (Thank GOD) and they shortened the time to 20 hours (4 hours, whoopie!).
They SAY they increased chance for wild experiments to succeed and we should fail less. We shall see. I think they lowered the cooldown on wild Exp. too. These are in the right direction, but more is needed.
Frankly, the meticulous experimentation should not have a longer cooldown than 1 to 3 hours. NO LONGER.
