Alchemy Cauldrons Stopped Spawning

Anyone else not seeing cauldrons on the map anymore? I’ve made multiple laps around Nazmir, and stopped by locations where they used to be, and nothing. Did they turn them off? Did they change the way the cooldown worked?

From my research the way they appeared to be working before was, you can loot one ever 6-10 minutes. Which seemed good. But now nothing?

I’m pretty sure they did a stealth hotfix that made them take likely 30min to an hour to respawn.

At this point couldn’t they just make the Cauldrons be like the shrines the Jewelcrafters can use for gems? Make it so you can only click on a Cauldron once a day (with clicking on any one locking you out from clicking on any others for that day) and getting like 1 random flask, 1 random battle potion, and a small amount of either utility or the cosmetic potions.

Was wondering the same thing make them like the chests that you can only loot once a day. The mechanic is there already obviously.

I’ll admit getting a free pot or flask every 6-8 mins from one cauldron location was a bit much. Especially when you consider that you can map out a path to multiple cauldron locations while you farm.

Although at the same time this was kinda neat, interesting, and fun. And honestly it was kinda balanced, since you didn’t get the exact flask or pot you were looking for. I got a bunch of junk potions I’d personally never really use.

I’d almost rather have them make bind on account pots and flasks from the cauldrons. That way they can keep the 5-8 minute timer, and it wouldn’t tank the economy.

Putting them on a 30 or 60 minute cool down just means no one will really use it, unless you’re already farming herbs, and you stumble across one when your cd is up. I was actually excited about farming herbs before they hotfixed it. It was neat coming up with a new herb path, and trying to track down as many cauldrons as I could. But if they don’t alter it back, or lower the cool down, it’s back to the OG path.

The other option would be 1 click per day, as a few have mentioned. But this isn’t really exciting. It’s just one more chore a player would need to make sure they do every day they log in. And if that’s the case, why even make them run out to cauldrons in the world. Just put another on use on the item.

They could also add another proc from the herb tool. It gives you a potion that allows you to interact with cauldrons in the world for an hour, and return the cool down to what it was. But I don’t know if I really like this option either. Because if you want to use that specific potion, you’re at the mercy of rng to get the proc.

They will most likely go with the option that stops farmers (aka why they hotfixed it so quickly.) Which means the cauldrons will most likely end up on very long cool down, and just end up being something that people remember to do once in a while. I really hope this isn’t what ends up happening, as I was actually enjoying the rng element with what the cauldron gave me every 10 mins, while on my herbing path. I guess we’ll see what they do.

This sounds much more balanced then flooding the economy with flasks and potions, even ones you won’t personally use.

I have been finding the cauldrons but they haven’t been clickable for days.

If only they had a special server - a kind of “test” server, say - where they could try out things like this before they go live to make sure they’re balanced correctly.

Maybe one day, if Blizzard ever decides to implement a “test” server, they could even open it to the public so that they could observe how people use these new items in the game.

Ah well, at least they have the live game and paying customers to use as a test bed.

It sounds like some of you already realize this, but any mechanic by which an alchemist gets ANYTHING for free, the more free stuff, the quicker it devalues the entire profession.

I just got the item yesterday on my alchemist, and didn’t check for the cauldron thingies, but I really hope it does NOT give out too many free things.

Yikes.

“the more free stuff, the quicker it devalues the entire profession.” Depends on your perspective. The “value” in alchemy is having these things available for guild raids. The cauldron specifically. Having to spend all my time gathering mats, running mythics for those stupid cores, (my biggest pet peeve) is valuable time spent and is quickly making this more like work then a fun game, so. I also am not interested in the AH game so this new thing sounded promising to me.

I hear you, and I’m not really bothering raiding.

So, we have different perspectives, which is fine.

But… I’ve always liked when things like mats have some value.

When you would (for example) fight over herbs/ore out in the world. (If on a PvP server)

Now they are not really worth anything. A great example is Anchor Weed. Was worth a lot. People complained. They started throwing tons of them at us. Worth next to nothing now.

Now, they really just sorta give us stuff for nothing, is the thing.

Whether a person likes that or not probably depends on their preferences.

And, probably most importantly, I have made the alchemy thing but have not yet looted the cauldron things yet.

It’s just, from some folks description… Sounded like they are throwing lots of free mats at folks.

Which made me think… (A) typical, and (B) Ack!

That would be an amazing idea if Blizzard didn’t just lay off all their QA folks in order to higher more “developers”.

I have never even seen one of these cauldrons. This is just another weak stupid gimmick that I immediately lost interest in.

I’ve seen enough enchanting mask to fill up a football stadium tho

well if you have “things of interest” highlighted they will show up on your map. ive found 3 so far. they are clickable (frostmourne OC) and they are giving me nothing. to the point im wondering why am i even bothering (but im herbing as i go).
3 cauldrons “interacted with” and so far 2 BP of strength/agaily and 1 of bursting blood.
so thanks for the ppl that exploited the bug/glitch cause i dont even think its worth it

Thank god they fixed this. Basically dropped everythings price on my server by 70% gold.
