Should they be their own class or a spec for Tinkers?

You’re thinking they should be separate from Tinkers?
Hopefully, Spec with tinkers. If they do this, it means Tinker would be open to basically all the races without Druids.
How would I do it?
Artisan class
- Alchemist spec (alchemy/chemistry based, spec theme CHIRALITY)
- Tinker spec (mechanically inclined, spec theme CLOCKWORK)
- Stonereaver spec (
secret society types, spec theme ENCRYPTION)
I’ve always imagined alchemists being a healing spec for tinkers. Like, if there’s anyone walking around with a portable laboratory which can be used to create volatile (or helpful) concoctions on the battlefield, it would definitely be a tinker.
I think the fact that the alchemist and tinker in WC3 were the same race (goblin) helps that image a lot for me.
So like Deckard in Heroes of the Storm, throwing potions at people?
I would think instead of giving it the name alchemy they’d probably go with something like Chemist or Chemicologist. Something goblin/gnome sounding?
Tinker spec names:
- DPS: Explodemolitionist
- Tank: Mechajockey
- Heal: Chemicologist
Engineering did have a bandage gun and potion injectors. So maybe between tiny robots that heal, shield turrets, and chemical launcher?
I suppose it’d be interesting if a Tinker Class used some sort of mech or warframe to tank with, but then you’d wonder how does the gear he equip help the mech?
DPS would obviously use bombs and turrets, not a permanent pet, thats hunters niche. Maybe bomblings.
Healer would use some of the old toys and flavor objects, sheild generators, potions that explode on the ground doing aoe heals, bandage guns etc…

Well I’d think it’d operate a lot like guardian druids. You have your tinker form and call your mech when it’s time to tank up?
Yeah that’d be a good idea, especially since tinker themed sets would look utilitarian, not for taking damage themselves, like plate wearers.
Could have some great glyphs for mech too!
Maybe 3 to choose from as a standard, but maybe adding in others as glyphs or like special transmog options?
It would be neat to have the tinker tank spec use either 2h or 1h shield. Mech could hold either of them.
I think Tinker has a lot of interesting options that could be explored.

I’d prefer they fix the classes and professions they have now rather than just adding something new. Which in time will be as problematic as the ones we have already.
More than likely a spec for a Tinker/Mechanic class, largely based on the Alchemy hero from WC3.
In SoO, there were Engineers who had the Alchemist Hero’s Healing Spray ability from WC3, and an ability called Adrenaline Bomb which was very similar to the Alchemist hero’s ability Chemical Rage. Along with the Heal/Medic Bot ability (with alchemical looking tanks on its back) from the Island Expedition teams you have a skeleton of a heal/support spec.
They should turn assassination into a new spec called alchemist that is 50/50 melee/ranged, kind of like a survival hunter. Then give them poison and frost vials to chuck around like that boss in the revamped Shadowfang Keep.

To build a bomb, requires chemistry. Alchemy is just crude chemistry.
Tinkers build bombs.
But I’m already an alchemist.
