AITA offspec loot edition

Was healing ZF and big bad pauldrons dropped. I was healing and rolled need on them. They are an upgrade for me and have spirit which syncs well with ret. The warrior “tank” lost his mind. Was I in the wrong.

I will say he wasnt a good tank. Thought he could do back to back to back large pulls with his Ravager and weird mix of outdated gear in arms spec. So he was already kind of annoying me. What do you all think

Yes. Unless stated earlier what gear you’re after, or the rest of the group says it’s ok, you shouldn’t be rolling on gear that isn’t for the role you’re performing. I wouldn’t be surprised if the tank’s “weird mix of outdated gear” is a result of similar experiences from earlier dungeons

Its a leveling dungeon. If its an upgrade to your leveling. Take it. End of story. Peolle expect you to level as holy? Lmao

It dropped, you can use it, it’s an upgrade. Roll away.

It’s not like you were just going to DE or vendor it. Fair game imo.

I will respond as I do in any AITA thread: Yes. It doesn’t matter the question.

Yes you were wrong and you may want to check your server discord to make sure your characters name wasn’t added to “the list”

sometimes a quasi ninja is justified if some one is being a $hitter, however seeing how nonvocal healers are I doubt you told him you were oom and just silently seethed he couldn’t tank

Yes, I believe you were.

… and this tells me that you already knew you were wrong, you’re just fishing for a way to justify it.

If the Warrior rolled on a healing gear drop for his diamond flask set, would you be upset?

If the Rogue rolled on a caster weapon because it has higher DPS for his mainhand, would you be upset?

Usually if you gotta ask, you’re probably being an A-hole.

In this case it’s not a huge deal, those things get replaced quick and even a random of the bear could replace them.

It’d be a nice courtesy to say in advance you want this or that for your offspec tho.

But for the most part as long as it’s not an item you’d use for a whole phase thru MC, who really cares?

Ok, but most players that organize PuG groups check those lists.

Ok but don’t come crying when you cant PuG

Press “x” to doubt.

How is this relevant to your question, if not only to help yourself percieve validation.
If he was a fantastic tank, would you still have needed?

Have you ever been in a group and seen “mind if I need for off spec?”. I’m sure you have, it’s common courtesy.

Did you queue up or ask for an inv to this group as the healer?
Or we’re you originally going to dps but ended up volunteering to heal because you guys couldn’t find one?

Definitely not. You rolled on leveling gear in a leveling dungeon. Tanks and healers get the privilege of rolling on tank/healing gear as well as the leveling gear they’re actually running the dungeon for, not instead of.

i’m gonna be honest, i think it’s okay for a paladin to roll on big bad pauldrons :expressionless: it’s one of the first pieces of blue plate. and yeah, all that spirit makes it questionable that it’s only for warriors.

The problem here, though, is that this is discussed prior to the run beginning.

“Mind if I roll on some ret/prot gear while we’re in here?”

In what world does Spirit “sync” well with ret?

Also, this isn’t a question of Ret/Prot Paladins being able to roll on this item. It’s a case of a healer (who doesn’t technically need this item) rolling need on it, effectively ninjaing it.

Who says they’re only for Warriors?

This is a joke… right?
