AIs playing WoW

How long until we can get an AI addon to play WoW for us?

ya that makes alot of sense.

they is called ā€˜bots’ and i thought they are not technically allowed?? but idk i didnt read the TOS i just click the box and it put a check and it let me make my account (woohoo!! yippee!!)

but yea i dont think they technically allow but somehow the people with the weird non english letters create them and then not get banned? idk this game is cool thouh

Why AI? We already know how to play

it’s already been done a thousand times. just because you cant afford or code your own bot, doesn’t mean nobody else has. it’s against the ToS, but it happens 24/7

Not a bot/script.

I’m talking about an actual AI.

Now I’m curious. Can you expound a little on what you mean by actual AI? Your original question being how long until we can get an AI addon to play wow for us, which is essentially botting, what do you have in mind by ā€œactual AI addonā€?

They would probably play better. Then 99 percent of the people in LFR

Something indistinguishable from a real player. It would respond to questions like a real person, do weeklies, pug M+ etc.

So you mean something like OpenAI’s ChatGPT actually being plugged into a WoW character for gameplay, am I close?

yeah, something like that.

Say i cant get home in time to make raid time. I could remotely turn on my CHAAKA AI and it would play for me until I could log on in person.

You want advanced AIs like ChatGPT to play WoW for you? I’m so confused by this topic, I don’t understand what you’re asking.

How long is it until AI takes over and plays WoW for us? The day we don’t want to play WoW for ourselves.
Because, it’s already possible, and it’s already happening, and it has been going on for years. I dont understand the point of this thread

yeah man, this stuff is already happening, and has been happening for years…

what do you want? do you want to bot out the rest of your progression like those other programmers? because I think you’re in the wrong forum for that.

Theoretically it could be done. The implications would be pretty profound, but not before it gets abused into the ground. Then Blizzard scrambles to update their TOS and before you know it the reporting features gets abused ad nauseum. Unfortunately I can’t find any other way of looking at the possibility other than dystopian. I think I’ll just go back to enjoying the moment.

Why do we need AI for this? Everything that we do can be coded. Unless you mean you want AI to be able to train on human gameplay and become the best player ever.

its called bots, and its against the list of rules they gave us.

It would be indistinguishable from me actually being online. It would respond and play just like me etc.

Imagine playing WoW, but instead of playing WoW, you coded an AI to play WoW.

OK, now what? the bot is playing WoW, and it’s doing a great job. It’s dominating PvP and PvE both. Now what? does that make you satisfied? your program is playing your game for you, now you are free to do what you want to do. So what are you going to do?

What is so important to you that you need a bot to play WoW? I think you need to get your priorities straight.

No no. I’m not saying I want this. I’m asking how long until someone does it, but not as a bot/script.

Games already have AI enemies. How long until we have AI ā€œplayersā€

Oh I see… I totally stand behind having AI raid/party members. I hate to start a quest chain that ends in a raid that nobody plays anymore… It’s very disappointing.

Your OP got me confused, I assumed you wanted to progress the game without playing the game…

I support AI teammates to help progress us through the content that is least popular
