Finally found time to get on the PTR. Trueshot feels bad. Aimed shot feels worse.
That’s the new design philosophy. It’s supposed to suck baseline. The player must now properly balance and spin the plates to make it not feel horrible. Everybody has just been too focused on the pet to notice.
idk if engaging with the spec mechanic is spinning plates
If:
Abilty A, B, C, or E maintain buff G needed for ability D, while ability D alters ability E, and or B, C with buff J, while proc F alters the nature of ability D, while buff G can be consumed by ability H which alters baseline I which impacts proc F, while ability K applies condition L altering ability E;
Then:
Spinning Plates.
right but that’s not the case lol
buttons you should be pressing normally buff aimed shot. the spec is asking you to press 2 or 3 other buttons.
If:
Arcane Shot , Kill Shot , Rapid Fire, or Explosive Shot maintain Streamlined needed for Aimed Shot, while Aimed Shot alters Arcane Shot, and or Kill Shot, Explosive Shot with Precise Shot, while Lock and Load alters the nature of Aimed Shot, while Surging Shots can be consumed by Rapid Fire which alters Auto Shot which impacts Lock and Load, while Volley applies Salvo altering Explosive Shot;
Then:
Spinning Plates.

Left out a few things like Spotters mark, TSA. It’s all a constant weaving dance of interactions, procs, and buffs. It’s not like you just press Aimed Shot and get the desired result like it’s always been.
They had to nerf Aimed Shot and how it plays (particularly with TSA) to make the interactions and spinng plates matter. For some it won’t be a big deal, for some others their experience will be negatively impacted.
no? you need to press those abilities regardless if streamline existed or not lol. that’s not spinning plates and you aren’t going out of your way to get streamline.
Perhaps I would use precise shot / double precise shot differently in reguards to black arrow if it wasn’t for Streamline. Deathblow is RNG afterall.
Perhaps I would use Trueshot differently if I didn’t need to maintain the Streamline buff.
Perhaps my opener would be different if I didn’t need outside buffs for Aimedshot.
Perhaps my usuage of Explosive shot, and my talent selections, would be different if not for the Aimed Shot, Precise shot, Streamline interactions.
It’s fine if you don’t, but I do consider the new system to be a plate spinning one. Unnecessarily so.
Do yourself a favor. Never play another class. lol. You are in the right place. Stay.
Maybe I just don’t have down the idea of keeping 1-2 streamlines up at a time. I guess it will take time to weave this correctly.
Didn’t they increase autoshot timer as well?
They did. Lock n Load was impacted, outside of trueshot it seems.
Great. I love standing there waiting for an attack to go off for even more time
It’s not quite like that in practice. I don’t notice the autoshot timing increase too much.
Once you get the plates spinning things can go quite fast. 1.5 to 0.9 sec Aimed Shots ect. The plates aren’t too hard to spin either, though I do find it restrictive. It impacts talent choice and ability usage. It’s just not as bad as say, the first version of melee SV.
It seems unnecessary to nerf an abillity for the sole purpose of adding a new restrictive mechanic that only exists to counteract the nerf.
I am doing less trueshot damage on ptr then on live, mostly due to the need to spin plate. That didn’t feel good. I also find I have more time with Aimed Shot on cooldown then on live, even with cooldown reductions in the tree. Dark Arrow was feeling kind of wet noodle-ish on ptr too. LnL does need adjusting too I think, I agree there.
This. Just why?
