AI Battleground is a mistake

Thats called PVE and there is an entire game mode for that.

This idea is about as bright as a car rental company going out and buying bicycles to use when they are low on car inventory. “Hey you came to rent a car but we are low atm, but take this bike and have a good day!”

I just cant with this dev team anymore lol

AI Bots are about as good an idea as “warmode” and handing out participation trophies for players who decide to play along.

Bad news. AI toxicity has been added. “rofl meatsack reaction times lol /spit /spit /spit”

I’m pretty sure the AI Brawl is there only so Blizzard can test and improve its AI for other content.

Ah yes, ai bgs, where the only way you can possibly die is if they swarm you.

Just like warfronts.

PvP in the current iteration of wow is practically a joke at this point. With declining PvP participation and lack of creativity or sense of how poor their classes feel in PvP has kind of forced their hand to add AI PvP at this point to at least keep up the facade that PvP is still “alive and well”.

I think it’s just a PvE version of a bg. I think it’s fine, let blizz experiment. M+ was an experiment that worked out great. I think it’s good for the game if the devs feel they have room to try new things and see how they pan out.

If we act like it’s the end of the world anytime blizz tries new things we will never have new things.

its the future of wow bgs…lol.

Disagree - I think it would be a great feature for the game.

1.) If gear matters in PvP, great way to get your entry level set.
2.) When trying new talents, specs or even classes - or even just learning the BGs - this would be a good low-stress way to do it. Folks would be 10x less toxic and willing to answer a noobs questions.
3.) The addition of Normal, Heroic or Mythic battlegrounds vs. AI could be a wonderful training tool for uncoordinated guild RBG teams. I know our guild of PvE Heroes has dabbled a bit in RBGs for our off-nights… it’s been very hit or miss, let’s just say. It would be great to have a low-stress learning environment to get our focusing and call outs down.

Only downside I can see is Alliance would probably queue less for regular BGs… given they’re more casual about PvP than Horde overall (something like 3x less high ranked players)… which would drive up Horde queues, but that sounds like a Horde issue to me. Couldn’t care less.

Besides, if it gets bad enough, I’m sure Blizzard will just allow Horde to fight Horde in Regular BGs as well. Between that and Merc Mode, Blizzard is all about ways of letting Horde play with themselves.

I’m for it.

What, when did they mention this idea? It would be a horrible idea, just look at how bad the AI are in the WFs. I mean you can have probably 3/4s the team AFK and still win without breaking a sweat.

Heroic warfront is a bit more challenging. At least if you afk others have to work harder to carry you.

Blizz did state they can increase and decrease the AI difficulty. They probably find current settings work for most players.

How do so many people not know this is a thing? This isn’t new.

The only real danger there is defeating the early wave that assaults your base. After that the only difference is the AI are higher level. Honestly, I don’t find it to be that much more difficult. You just need to be on your toes for the first couple of minutes and after that is it pretty much a normal WF with slightly higher level mobs.

I really hope they are not going to try and put this idea into other BGs…

There are good new things and there are dumb new things.

Just because an idea is “new” doesnt mean its a good idea to try.

For instance, cheese cake topped with fresh oysters would be something new and probably not ever been done, but it would be a bad idea even though its new.

A pvp mode against non-players is a bad idea because people Player vs Player because they want to Player versus Player. Common sense would tell you that putting in bot players is a bad idea.

Yes it might on paper solve an issue but it actually just makes it worse because people dont want to face bots.

If they want to face bots they would do PVE, and the PVE in wow is done quite well.

If the PvP is in a state where they have to do something as dumb as putting in bots, they should do a real fix and nuke current pvp because if people arent participating bots will only make that non participation worse.

Its sort of like having an itchy scab on your right hand that you shouldnt scratch, and fixing the issue by breaking the other hand.

I cant over exaggerate how stupid this idea is.

But it’s not a bg, its a pve version of a bg. I think it serves more as a “here’s a bg tutorial”.

I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

That would be fine, provided it offers no PvP related rewards. No honor, no contribution and no PvP boxes for winning.

I don’t think pvp players are the target audience. I think the target audience are those who dipped their toes into pvp and got mutilated and scarred to the point they won’t go back in.

And don’t try to tell me that doesn’t happen, low level pvp can escalate to the greatest crap shows ever. It happens frequently enough I’d bet we’ve all seen it a few times at least.

For a person who hasn’t done pvp much this kind of thing might be a good middle ground to get their feet wet before they jump into the deep end.

Is there even an “entry set” anymore? I mean theres no resilience right? There are no pvp specific sets anymore. And even if there were, just giving the entry set to you for nothing is better than this. They used to sell blue pvp gear as it was craftable. That was a good idea. This is bad.

If you cant handle the stress of losing to a real player, then you arent cut out for pvp. Making some PVE-PVP frankenstein is not going to fix anything.

There is literally nothing you will learn vs bots that will help you. Nothing.

If you are a new RBG group, split up into groups of 5 and queue bgs as a 5 man and learn to work as a team against real players. You have a leg up on them for being in voice. Play WSG and learn how to go as 5 and return a flag. Hold a node in AB. etc.

All of that will teach you way more than bot pvp would ever teach you because bots are stupid. They wont teach you anything more than running a dungeon would teach you.

Since I can’t post links, Google: cheesecake with oysters and look at the Baltimore Sun article. It’s actually a thing and someone won $1,000 for it.

I guess personal opinions don’t really matter and the Devs will do what they think is best.

You could always try and short Activision Blizzard stock to really stick it to them and see what that does.
