I think it is very disheartening to have to compete with streamers for the mount. They have a HUGE unfair advantage and there really isn’t a point for any guild to try and do the quest chain because of the presence of streamers. Even if the REALLY big streamers aren’t on your server, you can imagine a small streamer that gets several hundred or about 1000 viewers consistently has a massive advantage over any guild. I don’t think it is in the spirit of the original quest line for there to be such unfair competition.
It’s only the super popular streamers who have people following them around. Plus, in classic if you waste time following a streamer you’re probably going to be behind the power curve anyways.
Well, life is unfair. So…deal with it and move on.
Thank you for your thought provoking response. It really sheds light on the matter.
Step 1: Avoid all servers with big streamers.
Step 2: There is no step 2.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit.
No problem.
First, we don’t know how many servers there will be. Second, every server will probably have SOME sort of streamer presence for this very reason. Third, how are you going to know what server a streamer is on or not unless you want to wait and be super far behind?
: )
Sounds good.
They are probably going to announce what the server names are before launch day. This will let the streamers tell their audience what server to play on if they want to play with their fav streamer. If this happens there WILL be some awesome human either here or on the subreddit that will compile a list of all the servers and what streamers will be on what server.
I see the majority of the larger streamers going to 1 or 2 servers, probably 1 PVE and 1 PVP server. It just makes more sense for them since they can do bigger events with multiple streamers together. HOPEFULLY this will leave quite a few servers free from the hassle of the hundreds/thousands of Twitch babies that create an unstable and unwanted playing environment.

They have an advantage sure, but they also have a massive disadvantage depending on whether or not they roll on pvp servers.
Theres probably 100 ways to grief someone on a pve server while I think about it.
But the advice given here is valid.
-Don’t roll on a streamer server.
-Become a key person in a server first or second guild.
-Just because a streamer has a following doesn’t make them a good player. If they’re not ina good guild they’re not in a position to actually do the chain speedily.
-The only real advantage streaming gives in the gong chain is faster farming and being able to kill some of the mobs quicker, doesn’t actually improve their raid prog.

but they also have a massive disadvantage depending on whether or not they roll on pvp servers.
not sure why people think this. for every person that is going to try and troll a streamer they’ll have 30 people trying to be the streamers hero
the only threat to a streamer is a bigger streamer
Venruki is a smaller streamer than asmongler and managed to wipe him repeatedly doing the WW axe chain today. All it takes is one quick burst window or CC window on someone important and that can ruin a streamers activity.
The irony is, streamer griefing is even worse on classic thanks to time investment and things like graveyards being miles away.
Also if word goes out that X,y,z streamer is attacking Orgrimmar you can gurantee it will mobilise a very large group or multiple groups of people willing to ruin their day.
I don’t think you understand how the quest for the opening of AQ works. The reason streamers are at such a big advantage is because there is a part in the quest where you have to collect silithid fragments, thousands of them. The part where streamers have the advantage is that they can deputize other people to collect on their behalves. So you have people working around the clock for one guy, of course he will finish first no matter what you do.
maybe could have a streamers only server where they can compete with each other for it. that’d make for some great spontaneous wpvp events
in fact, might be better for everyone, including them.

Venruki is a smaller streamer than asmongler
smaller but isn’t he from Method, the guys who win the big mythic retail competitions, worth millions of dollars?
i mean i’m shocked, shocked i say, that a guy who is a world champion player is winning pvp skirmishes against a youtuber/streamer who specializes in transmog competitions and mount offs
people start to realize streamer are cancer for the game
In retail the only people who completed the event and got the mount worked their arses off too… Just because now no lives will be streaming it also, you hate them? What’s wrong with you people.
i think the solution is to just have a streamer only server.
There’s a massive difference between a no lifer and a no lifer with 40,000 peasants doing his dirty work
