AH Scammers!

I have seen this A LOT! Someone will list a piece of say Sinvyr ore for 6.75 gold, and when you buy it, you get charged 67 gold, when the next 10 in the list are 61.00 gold. How the heck can these scammers get away with this? This applies for EVERY crafting regent, they list it for 6.75 gold and get 67 gold for it. What the heck is up with this scam? Its everywhere in consumables section!!!

This actually sounds like a legitimate flaw in the AH system.

These types of dishonest market practices exist in the stock market and the auction markets of other video games as well. They just appear to be more prevalent since Shadowlands prepatch.

Another dishonest practice I’ve seen:

Material buyers posting very low sell orders (e.g. 50 silver with a lot depth of only 1 item), hoping to attract victims to sell the materials much cheaper than fair market value.

I bought some leather scraps yesterday to make some regular leather out of them because it was cheaper that way. When I went back to buy more (there was a bunch of it in the AH) the price went from 50 silver to 1 gold. In a matter of minutes.

What are you even talking about ?

You pay 6.75 gold for the single ore, stop buying more than 1 or learn to use your eyes.

They do not get 67 gold for something listed at 6 gold you ar jist buying the others because you cant understand how the AH works…

This was the old auction house not new one.

exactly this…

Moron sees one for 6.75g and ignored the fact that it says “1”

and didn’t pay attention and notice that the second and beyond cost more than 6.75 and ended up telling the auction house he wanted to buy more than 1 and spammed buy now rather than paying attention to the total price it shows to you.

So not a scam, rather user error/stupidity.

They sure DID! When i bought that SINGLE ore at what was listed as 6.75, it was the TOP item, and the next item below it was 61 gold, my chat said i won an auction for X ore for SIXTY SEVEN gold. How the hell can i buy one item listed at the TOP of the list, and get charged more than the item(s) below it then? Tell me genius?

I only bought the ONE!

Sounds like a reading disability

that happens if someone else buys them out faster than you. the people that are doing that aren’t scamming the way you’re suggesting, they’re trying to screw people that don’t look before they post something. so the one not paying attention is posting things for 6g that they should be posting at 60g. and the one originally posting 1 item for a super low undercut will buy out every item for the cheaper price as others that aren’t paying attention are posting, then relist them at the higher price.

pay attention when you use the auction house. there’s always people out there trying to screw you.

That isn’t scamming, if you buy one you’d get it at that price, buying two with only one available for that price means you pay the next highest price for the second. The AH shows you all the prices and the quantities available at those prices, if you fail to read any of that then that’s on you.

You did not get scammed.

Thats people needing to pay attention when they list.
Nothing scamming about that one.
its on the SELLER to MAKE SURE they are selling for the price they want.
What I sell my stuff for is my business…even if I do buy yours up when you spam your listings without paying attention.

have seen this a lot, including complete sucker setups where something is like 100k after you buy 10 at 5 gold each

bliz should set up warning about the price change or something

That’s what happens when you don’t open the list.

i’m not sure if there is. haven’t checked. but yes, there should be a prompt with total price of purchased items if there isn’t already. i know there’s a prompt i just forget off hand what is written in it.
