It’s not about posting an item and it quickly selling. In this situation, you are still posting an item with the intent to sell it. OP is referring to a practice where the player has no intention of selling the item but rather tricking players into posting items up at absurdly low prices for them to buy and resell.

I mean, yeah that’s the point of the thread lol. It should be easier to report such behavior and the practice should be explicitly stated somewhere in the ToS to make it clear that it is a punishable offense

Blizzard would decide that obviously. If I had it my way, current expansion crafting mats should have set prices similar to how the WoW token is sold. Make it impossible to post them at prices below the average.

It could already be considered a punishable offense but I’m under the impression that its sort of a grey area. It’s manipulating the market, which is bannable, but what’s considered manipulation is purposefully vague

What is the average anyway, todays average is not the same as in a week from now, demand changes over time.
Or another one - I buy whole stock of an item at 100g/item and repost it at 1000g/item and that becomes new average, noone can undercut me. Would you want that as a buyer?
Not sure i’d completely side with the OP and call them scammers, but it’s definitely a crappy way to make your gold, just sitting around all day posting 1 single item of certain trade mats hoping to trick someone into posting their mats that low so you can snap them up. OP should have been more careful, but if i had my way, these types of AH “players” would be shut down (possibly with a stacking CD on cancelling auctions).
Always. Always check the prices on the first page before dropping an important AH sale.

and they also have to decide what to post their auctions for…especially when the game defaults to some number.
if they dont watch to make sure its the price they WANT to sell for, thats on them, no one else.
and yet no one is being banned for flipping OR baiting.

Never match the cheapest price, just match a price 2-6 down the list and you’ll never run into this problem and your items will still sell damn near instantly.

bliizzard is very unlikely to start micromanaging the AH over someone who wants to mindlessly bulk post with TSM or auctionator and be lazy about it.
They need to WATCH their postings before they click the button to list it…its THEIR fault if there was something posted below the normal price and they didnt read first.
and likely for more than you expected because the flippers have gone insane and driven up the price on so much crap.

If they are using a bot to post and cancel in microseconds, then it probably is against ToS. If it isn’t, then I want a bot to allow me to automate a run through an instance.

I just pick a price where it looks like the mosts sales are clustered. Put a 24 hour time on it, and it’s gone before I get back the next day.
Mats seem to be moving really fast the expansion. Probably because mats are region wide now?
