As Title says.
Purchasing greens on the AH, even though they say requires level 70, will turn level 80 once you pick it up from the mail box.

They were level 80 in the auction house. The root search erroneously shows level 70 required, and comes up in level 70 filters as a result, but when you select an item to purchase you can see its actual tooltip and actual level required.
The tooltip for the item in the search shows 70, but when you click on the item, mouse over it again, and it’ll show the correct ilvl before you click on purchase. it’s a real problem.
I suggest submitting an in-game ticket to make the issue trackable.
So, I thought this was the case, but the items in question are the green profession gear, on the tooltip of the item it clearly says level 70 required, but then switches to 80 in the mail box.

Hence why we have said to mouse over the item after selecting its subsection to get the actual item tooltip.
so this incorrect display
turns into this
you can mouse over that stuff in the AH exactly the way you demonstrated… see that it says level 70, buy it, and it will still show up as 80
this is an ACTUAL BUG, stop defending it like you know what you’re talking about and let the dev’s actually fix it.
Nobody is defending anything or saying its not a bug. Providing as much information as possible on what the actual bug is is critical to it being identified and fixed while also offering players ways to avoid falling victim to it.
Ignore Battlecruisr - I can confirm this is an actual bug. It still says 70 in the AH tooltip, they’ve had several patches since then they just won’t fix it.
Battlecruisr, people like you do more harm than good. You defend companies to the pettiest degree. All you do is make the world worse, stop talking. It’s a genuine bug but the dev teams who don’t play the game will now have a harder time believing that it is because of your brown-nosing comments. Go away.
Which is exactly what I did.
Giving players a way to identify the actual level of an item prior to purchasing something they can’t use is doing harm?
Thanks for the advice. I followed it and found it to be exactly as you said. When normal searching, if you favorite the item like i did (because i was searching for a set with stats i wanted) then you click each gear piece, (which brings up all auctions with that item name) mouse over, and it will show the actual level of the gear. Bought 3 pieces of gear and needed to check what ones i bought because i was distracted, went to mailbox and bam, this issue cropped up. Your suggestion helped me avoid about 6k gold in expenses…hahaha
Thabks again BattleCruisr
