Aging of child characters (slight spoilers)

I noticed Dagran the 2nd, previously a baby for years is now a 20 something ultra nerd accompanying his mother into the new expansion. And Anduin, obviously, has gone from a kid to a teen to a battered twenty something (probably 28? at a guess?)

Then there’s Li li. Still tiny, still around 8. Now, I get that she and her uncle have a whole ‘lone wolf and cub’ vibe and she’s used on promo material as a tiny panda. But is there any lore reason out there why she doesn’t age? Are we Pandaren really long lived or something similar? Or is it, as I expect, just hand waved for rule of cute?

Maybe pandaren just physically age really slowly. I think gnomes do that.

From an evolutionary standpoint. It’s a really inconvenient trait to have. Humans taking ~25 years to fully mature irl is comparatively weird to the rest of the animal kingdom.

What of the Brother and Sister that steal each other’s toys and run amok in Stormwind? They have to be about 30+ now…

She hasn’t aged because Blizzard has no need for an adult Li Li yet. Have we actually interacted with her since Legion?

Yes, that happens when time passes. Dagran Jr. was introduced in Cataclysm, which released fourteen years ago in 2010. On top of that we have the five year time skip between Shadowlands and Dragonflight, so that’s a total of nineteen years. We don’t know the canonical age of Dagran Jr. yet, and he would’ve been a few years old in Cataclysm since Dagran Sr. died in Vanilla, as in 2004 twenty years ago.

pandaren have similar lifespans to humans, might live slightly longer.

i think its just a case of not aging until the plot demands

I think she was in a brief quest chain in BFA when N’zoth was attacking the Vale with a Mogu resurgence also part of the mix.

Anduin was 10 in Vanilla, so probably like 25 by the end of Dragonflight. Each expansion lasts 1 year in lore, with the exception of Cata and Shadowlands which each lasted 2 years in lore. Then the 3 year time skip between Shadowlands and Dragonflight. So roughly he’s 25 years old.

Li Li was probably around 16-17 years old in BfA when she was last seen. If they reintroduced her, she would likely have an adult model instead of the child sized one last seen.
