Aging gamers and all nighters

Anyone else worried about this? Better make sure you got your blood pressure medicine or something =)

Definitely can’t to all-nighters anymore. Nor do I want to.

After I hit 30 years of age there was little I valued more than a good night’s rest… but I’d be willing to make this sacrifice a few times during launch week. :grinning:

At 48 I don’t typically stay up all night anymore…but I do wake up in the middle of the night and game. That will the time I attempt to gain some leway on the pvpers.

Nope. I’m in my mid-50s. All-nighters are just not in the cards anymore.

@ 52 I came to the conclusion that I can sleep enough when I’m gone. Energy drinks and coffee are a decent helper as long as you eat plenty of food.

Early to bed and early to rise means I don’t have to compete with children for quest mobs.

Lol. What sucks though is that prime time is when we go to sleep.

I’m 52 and will be drinking lots of espresso and water and will be staying up playing WAY past my bedtime, especially on non work nights.

Even in my 30s, all-nighters were hard to recover from. Even more so now, when you have to get up and mow the yard!

Adulting is hard.

Rofl… I hear ya. People irl constantly think I’m in my 20s, but I actually just turned 39 yesterday! I like to be in bed by 10pm, and sometimes 8:30pm, lol, but I still want to raid… Meh, I’ll figure something out.

I think my eye-hand coordination and reactions are still very good right now, so I might as well continue playing.

I stayed in tip-top shape, still a Chad. Won’t be an issue!

I’m 37 and I’ve been preparing for the past few months at staying up later and later and still be able to function at work the next day.

So far I have it up to 130am (and getting up at 7am) and I’m doing okay at work. Shooting to push that to 2am before Classic launch.

That will give me, on average, 6-7 hours of game time a day during the week. I don’t really play much on weekends so I have to squeeze what I can during the week.

I’m 37. I work from 11am to 7pm. I intend to come home, enjoy dinner with my wife as we always do. Then settle into the game around 8:15 or so, and play until Midnight. My mornings are free between 7am and 10:00 so i may squeeze an hour in some mornings.

Exactly! The older I get the earlier I get up. Playing WoW at 5 a.m. means the overnighters are pooping out and things are nice and peaceful for a time.

I go to sleep around 8 or 830 and up by 4 am on weekdays and 2 am on weekends. got used to standing the 8 to 4 watch when i was stationed on a cutter for 3 years.

Next week i plan on 1 or 2 all nighters since i am off.

At 61, I have curiously switched from all-nighters to pre-dawn…I am now up at 4:33A every morning.

I remember staying up around 36 hours straight powerleveling when wotlk launched. I cant do that anymore lol
If i dont get my sleep i dont function the next day.

Sucks because i used to be that kid who loved staying up late, oh well

Coming home from school let alone work only to have to raid was hard enough. I could barely stay awake 3/4 of the way into the raid. No more late nights.

Staying up late was not all that. It was horrible having to change your sleep schedule to be able to wake up in time for whatever was next. All of your nostalgia needs a good dose of reality and memory.
