Aggrend plays the easy mode faction and parses a solid 48 in raid. He doesn’t actually PVP whatsoever, as the easiest pvp class. Of course that irl dwarf has no perspective on anything
I don’t know the man, but his position on this issue reveals a strong anti-competitive streak in his personality. Competitors want to win, but they also want to do it by beating the best, not by absolutely annihilating the helpless masses.
it’s giving cata era forums with ghostcrawler all over again
/shudder…
Week 2: “Dungeons are HARD!”
A month and 2 million subs later: “Here come the dungeon and raid adjustments.”
Good luck.
I think he’s right and wrong, some people do want to fight 10v10 for skill and bragging rights but think the majority are doing it for easy rep and honor.
who wants good games? a premade queues against a premade 90% of them give up after first cap that is not good games that is throwing games and unwritten collusion
But how much worse? Should people be constantly camped in the GY because they didn’t go super sweat mode? Should they be punished for not choosing a meta class?
It seems to me he’s war-gamed how fixing this would play out. He knows premades only queue to wipe pugs, thus would stop queueing the moment pugs aren’t there for them to steamroll. But he wants a game where premades are on discord coordinating play. It’s his vision of how things should be. Doing something to eliminate that for one major aspect of the game isn’t something he’s interested in doing.
So we’re left with rationalizations to try and support ignoring the problem. Things like a premade queue taking longer, thus making the pug queue the most efficient mode of play. But since we already know no one would queue the premade queue anyway (no pugs to steamroll), this isn’t even a valid issue.
tl;dr: Aggrend wants a wow game with people coordinating on discord and is willing to sacrifice half the playerbase’s game experience to have it.
I would be a little more lenient considering the short form responses of that site. The guy he responded to was suggesting to make it impossible to queue as more than 5. His response was geared to that and not necessarily excluding premades vs premade mm
Yeah the response about killing 10 mans was just in reference to the 5 man queue suggestion. But even without that, I think my analysis of what’s driving his decision is correct. Wouldn’t be the first time I’m wrong if I’m wrong! But seems pretty apparent to me right now.
Would love to see them come up with even just a compromise to ease the pug burden.
Now, if you add Rankings and RBG’s, people will certainly compete in WSG just like they do in arenas.
This would be the fix. Put in an RBG premade queue with competitive rankings, and a casual queue that allows for a max party size of 5 to queue with.
League has flex where you can queue with any group size up to a 5-man premade and solo/duo queue. Everyone plays solo/duo queue unless they’re boosting accounts.
The devs seem totally incompetent. That’s the kiss of death for a game. You have to trust that the devs have a vision and know the correct direction for the game. They’ve been making ridiculous mistakes that even casual gamers can easily notice from the start.
Lmao.
This myth that entire premades or groups of people are “afking out” is a wide shot in the dark.
These people are there for marks and rep. Why tf do you think they’re afking out and prolonging their grind??
The only time I’ve ever seen “afk outs” are maybe one or 2 players in their whole team that get mad over a game and come whisper you on level 1 alts
Premade players can’t talk when PvP/battlegrounds become dead content due to them.
Similar thing happened on retail- Casuals got destroyed all the time by ex-Gladiators (the only people still left playing PvP years later, Shadowlands hurt the scene hard, etc.) so the casuals just upped and vanished.
PvP times got really long for everyone, gg dead mode, until Blizzard reinvigorated the scene with new SOLO-queue modes like Shuffle and Battleground Blitz.
They had to make solo-queue, because PvP died thanks to no-lifers killing it.
Waiting for the same thing to happen here, tbh.
Or they can just let it rot like with Classic, funnel everyone into AV because all other BGs are useless at endgame or something like that.
Anyway it’s clear Aggrend is a premade player, remove solo-queue then, or the mode dies for those people.
Can’t have both, and expect things to be fine.
Again, it’s not 2004-5 anymore, there’s other games to play, SoD will NOT hold interest for the majority of people if they can’t even touch WSG/other battlegrounds.
You cater to one audience, the other is gonna vanish.
It’s already happened before lol.
Yeah, everyone who isn’t a WoW nolifer is going to leave and go play league or whatever instead.
I played a few PUGs this morning to see what the hub-bub was about. Oof. Yeah, this is cringe. Pugging is gross, Aggrend is based for shutting this nonsense down.
Honestly, I feel that if you advocate for PUG vs PUG as the core experience you should have your posting privileges revoked. At least this is a player-solvable solution though - I can just mute you lunatics. Lol.
His answer isn’t really an answer.
Nobody cares if they do premades, people just don’t want to pug vs a premade.
Also – why is he talking on twitter but not on the forums, which are… you know – designed for discussion. Shouldn’t have to go to reddit to see what someone posted on twitter to get information on their game.
You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see why Premades vs Pugs are bad. Not addressing that aspect of it is willful ignorance or proof that he doesn’t play the game.
Advocating for separating premades from pugs is not advocating for premades to be removed.
If you think it is all you are admitting is that premading for reasons other than pug stomping is so unpopular noone would do it. Same thing happened when twinks were given their own queues.
Arguing with the premaders feels pointless. They are exclusively playing the BG to fill up a rep bar. They don’t actually like PVP.
