Currently, the reason Hunters choose BM over survival is because pets do a lot of damage. There are also more rune options that are bis that require pets like flanking strike and kill command in the leg slot. The only petless rune Hunters have is lone wolf. We need a few more options that will boost the hunters damage without the need for your pet. Here are a just a few things that might help.
Replace Wyvern Sting with Kill shot and remove the deadzone for all shot abilities.
Add trap launcher as a book so melee hunters and ranged can use it. Currently duel wield melee have to go without trap launcher and it sucks lol.
Add rapid Killing rune from the head slot to the leg slot.
Adjust attack power scaling for hunters
Give survival hunters camouflage for the hunter and his pet
Hell to the no, Survival even minimally spec’d is insane with trap launcher right now. You can legit root lock so many players at once with frost trap plus the raptor strike talent is great for melee ATM. Theres alot to be desired but no ones going FULL BM in the talent tree since theres some desirable picks in the survival spec including getting more talents next phase
Stop asking for too much just because you can’t cope with being limited to 1 style or the other. Welcome to what the rest of us have dealt with the entirety of our WoW experience. Suck it up and deal.
Not all of us run dw bm. I personal run 2hĂ nder with trap launcher and went sv tree. The bonus agi and crit make raptor strike with a slow 2 hander truck. Pluse added damage from traps. I dog walk bm hunters in world pvp. Entrapment nuetralize their pet . If they trsp minr ok im not releiant on it but once i git you in frot trap with immolate going your not getting away. Theis more then one way to play the spec
I would just like to see a way for melee Survival Hunters to use Trap Launcher without giving up the damage bonus from Dual Wield Specialization. Combat traps would be a huge sell for Survival.
Tough to accomplish that without also buffing BM. Unsure what the solution would be.
You realize Entrapment, the thing you’re complaining about, is literally on the second row of the tree and available to every single spec in this phase right?
Melee BM can easily go for it if they’re willing to go 2 hander melee over dual wield, Marksman absolutely goes for it.
The survival tree is barren past the first two rows with only minimal stuff that you can easily play without.
That being said, 2hd melee with trap launcher is by no means bad.
Hell I’d even say running melee specialist on the waist while MM, allowing you to get big raptor strikes crits/insta resets if anyone comes into melee, is more impactful than any other rune on the waist.
If a war or rogue is on you without scatter/trap, you are dead as a door nail, melee specialist isn’t gonna do anything for you.
The whole point of going marksman is dishing out the most damage you can at range with your only out being scatter trap once every 30s or a paladin freedom.
If you find yourself in melee to begin with, you either effed up or you got opened by a rogue and you’re gonna die regardless because crippling poison is an automatic loss without using consumes.
You seem very sure of yourself friend, I played this in phase 2 and I think it works pretty well.
My man we are capable of so much more with a hunter. I dont think you understand the hunter class well enough.
You should check out the entrapment talent, it’s really really useful!
For real though, you should check out the MM melee spec going at the moment if you dont have a TSA hunter in your raid. It’s not a terrible as you think and it works well with the playstyle i just mentioned.
