“3. Holy Paladins - We did you guys a bit dirty by not giving you interesting buttons to push like every other healing class. Viewed through a level 60 vanilla lens holy is great, but in SoD it leaves a lot to be desired. One thing we’ve been discussing is a group heal or some sort of proactive heal mechanic for Holy, but interested to hear some concise ideas here.”
Answer:
Glimmer of Light.
Reduce the cost of Holy Shock by 50%. When you cast Holy Shock on a friendly target, the target receives a “Glimmer of Light” buff for 30 seconds and the cooldown of Holy Shock is reduced to 5 seconds. When you heal with Holy Shock, all targets with Glimmer of Light active on them also receive healing for the same amount. Heals from Glimmer of Light cannot be critically effective.
Bring back the most interesting mechanic Holy Paladin ever had while also making a meme talent Hpals didn’t even take in vanilla feel fun or compelling to use.
As much as I like glimmer, that play style just doesn’t work without the other part of the toolkit from retail to fill in the gaps. Also holy shock is just far to weak to make that worth while.
Hpal needs Word of Glory from Legion-Present, or Light of Dawn.
Even then it’s still not worth it. You’re essentially asking for aoe healing in the dumbest way in favor of a pretty gimmick.
Word of Glory in the modern form, not the Cata one, would be infinitely superior to it and not cost you numerous gcds.
Holy shock is far to weak in classic, in retail when glimmer was powerful. Holy shock got bonuses from the mastery, it got bonuses from a higher SP coefficient, and numerous other stacking factors. It just isn’t viable without some form of rework or secondary addition to holy shock outside of cooldown.
Sure, but I’d rather see runes make it useful rather than leave it as a dead talent in favor of another spell entirely. Word of Glory, as it is in retail, is just a big heal. We are not currently weak in that area at all.
Word of Glory might of been changed since tier 1 of SLands which was the last time I played holy in retail, however the version of WoG I am referencing is an aoe group heal.
While I would like holy shock to be more valuable, asking for glimmer just to give us a severely lack luster healing style is not a good idea.
I don’t think two instant flashes are going to help HPal PVP personally, but I don’t think something only useful in PVP really answers what Aggrend was looking for.
I want at least one powerful instant heal and I want to be able to AoE heal.
A strong Light of Dawn on a short cooldown is highly desired. Its a fun to press ability that is effective. Holy Paladin needs some instant healing. Enough with getting kicked or spell locked.
No we are not? WotLK has a 5 second Holy Shock that has a high crit rate that procs an instant Flash of Light. Holy Light is crazy strong in LK, and has an AOE splash effect.
Holy Paladin is very strong in WotLK in PvP, and can survive dps beating on them - not so in SoD.
They could implement the necessary talents (as skill books) and abilities (as runes) to bring to life Legion’s melee Holy Paladin, which did bonkers-level healing and DPS (for a healer).
…it was freaking awesome.
Talents
((Sorry I forget their names))
Makes Crusader Strike reduce the cooldown on Holy Shock and Light of Dawn
Runes
Holy Prism
Light of Dawn
((forget the name)) The CD that caused Crusader Strike to heal nearby allies; also would need it to increase CS to 2 charges but with a slightly increased CD; I think in Legion it was like 2 charges but the CD is increased to 8 seconds or something
((Might need some of the other talents that Artifact had…but I don’t remember which ones were ‘key’ to keeping the CD of HS and LoD low…might have been a talent on the Artifact to reduce LoD’s CD. But, again, can’t remember.))
