Again, cov sets in torghast would have solved everything

If Cov sets had bonuses like:
2p : 25% more phantasma in torghast
4p : Higher chance of finding olberon powers in torghast
6p: Higher chance of finding epic Anima powers in torghast
8p: 50% damage reduction, 50% increased damage and healing in torghast

And we got out full set at the start of our cov campaign…

Torghast could have been balanced around 155 ilv. That could have been a constant, a baseline set of stats that blizzard could build an actual roguelite on. Then, all they’d have to do is adjust spec specific powers.

Classes that were truly disadvantaged by design could have had a bonus effect on their gloves, like old gladiator gloves, IE: Cov gloves could have an effect for warlocks like, “all pets have spell lock on a 15 second cooldown in torghast.”

A fixed baseline would have been great for torghast.

So ez. Problem solved. You’re hired to run blizz.

Look, go play FTL and Splunky.

It’s not like every 4 months your health and damage (or in the case of ftl, shields and armor) doubles like it does in WoW. That’s not going to work out very well. If we had a full set of gear with a fixed ilv that was Torghast BiS forever, you could actually do something like a rougelike.

I get the theory, but this is an awkward, elaborate bandaid for something niche that devolves from what an mmo should be.

It’s not elaborate, it’s actually simplification. It’s using an existing armor set to reduce the number of variables blizzard has to balance in Torghast.

As to devolving from what an mmo should be, it’s supposed to be a minigame that’s supposed to be a roguelite. It’s going to be crippled by gear progression.

That’s like saying that pet battles should be impacted by your ilv because it’s in an MMO.

FTL and splunky? What is that

Yikes. That is all.
