The buffs to ranged Hunters were not even CLOSE to enough to bring them somewhat closer to middle of the pack. Hunters are now rolling on spell power cloth and leather because of this garbage coding in original classic for Hunter.
Serpent Sting definitely deserves a buff. It does ZDPS. Meanwhile, a single Mage or Priest DoT gets you to 50% in one global. The discrepancy is wild.
Exactly, this change would be simple and wouldn’t affect PvP in the slightest. And if it does they can always tune the base damage of Chimera after. This change would ONLY be positive for ranged Hunters in PvE.
So long as we’re talking about this can we stop ignoring Rend like the red headed step child shackled to the radiator? Absolute dog water ability with no scaling whatsoever.
But it already did?
Do you not do research?
I think it might be now, via Chimera Shot.
I had a few instances last night of “more powerful version of that spell already in effect” came up while trying to cast Serpent Sting that was about to fall off. Since I was the only hunter, something must have caused my serpent sting to hit harder than the cast, and I suspect it’s the Chimera Shot refreshed version.
the fact that non-scaling abilities are pure crap just means the damage of rune skills is way too high they need to be nerfed. like, pretty much across the board.
It was buffed and still does pathetic damage.
Do you not do research?
Not only are ranged hunters still 2nd to the last, but we are also by a larger margin then a week ago thanks to Paladin buffs and other people getting better gear and scaling better.
Hmm, or it could be Serpent Sting buff was actually a nerf and made it weaker somehow. Could be a bug on this.
Although I’ve also had this issue pre-buff as well now that I think about it. When you cast serpent sting then refresh it with Chimera I think it always prevents you from manually refreshing Serpent Sting. I might test regular Serpent Sting damage vs Chimera Refresh Serpent Sting damage…I don’t think they will be different, but it’s worth a check.
Here’s your sign
Changes in rap make the game think there is a stronger version, but the damage doesnt change unless you get spell power or used viper.
Could you imagine if shocks and other shammy spells scaled off of AP in classic too?
Sorry bro, welcome to having part of your damage scale off of a different stat.
No chimera got a buff, not serpent sting.
The difference is those are meant to gain damage for ele shaman. Hunters were never truely meant to build spellpower. T2.5 was blizzard testing the waters with it, but clearly decided against it as the rest of the hunter teir after that was agi based.
And Enhance eventually scaled entirely off of Agi…including the shocks and MSW spells, they also adjusted the spell damage accordingly. Classic does not have such balance built into the spells.
Arcane shot with a lot of spellpower in SoD does a LOT of damage… having it scale with AP would be obscene. (Just like having Shocks/LavaBurst scale with AP)
(Having “debated” with you before in the other thread and seeing where you like to go if/when you sense being cornered- I’m done with you here too, I will not be responding to you.)
It really doesnt do a lot of damage even with spellpower.
It has the same spellpower scaling of fireblast, about half the base damage, and a slightly lower CD. With no chance to stun, no ignite dot chance, etc.
If you think arcane shot hurts with spellpower you are clearly ignoring basically everyone elses damage output.
Because you dont like to be proven wrong.
(For those curious he was claiming CC is a defensive cd, so by his own logic i as saying killing the enemy was a defensive CD because it also stops the enemy from attacking)
Hunters have no use for SP, they don’t have SP gear and their source of damage is intended to be from AP and weapon damage. Hunter scaling of SP is an old concept that wasn’t fixed until TBC. Hunter was the last class introduced to original WoW, it was basically rushed with last minutes changes so it has remenant of old design like this.
Why is that? Explosive Shot is scaling of AP + flat damage, it doesn’t need to be a 1:1 ratio. There’s a thing called AP coefficient which is usually set at 10-20% + flat damage. There’s nothing wrong with that and it’s a proven design, like I said…it’s been like that since TBC, only vanilla use outdated SP scaling on Hunters.
let hunters go spellpower.
I want the caster gear too.
I wouldnt bother arguing with that person much.
He was claiming wing clip was a defensive CD in another thread.
And when i tried to point out his flawed logic he didnt want to keep talking.
