After the classic content is all released

So after all the classic content is released, i.e the raids an stuff, what direction is classic going to go? I know it’s going to be a while before all the content is released, but eventually it will happen when the schedule is finished. I’m hoping that it will just stay classic, and not go down the expack list like bc/wotlk, but instead they release all the content that they originally didn’t have time for in vanilla.

for instance the raid portal in stormwind that was between the trade district and old town, and other various world instances that just went no-where; and unfinished areas of the world. there was still so much unfinished azeroth to explore when bc dropped, it would be cool if the devs where able to finish, or expand on what he original team started. Even if it meant making it a classic xpack that we would have to buy “Azeroth the unexplored” not necessarily lore breaking, or anything majorly different from the other xpacks, just more classic to explore and enjoy.

The stated goal of classic is museum piece.
They want to develop it and then forget it outside of fixing bugs.

The problem with trying to expand it is you just invalidate the authentic vanilla people want.

Furthermore blizzard has stated they do not want to be developing new content for two seperate mmos.

There may come a time for developing more, but after Naxx releases, it should just be idle for a few years. Maybe release a TBC server for players but they shouldnt touch classic IMO. And if they decide on a Classic++ they should do it on a different server.

But Im betting Classic++ wont happen. The ego hit to the retail dev team would be devastating if a branched off Classic WoW began to continuously suck away retail players as a better and more immersive alternative. The lazy and quick way to more $$ would just be to do TBC servers. Activision would definitely agree with the cheap method that keeps the bucks rolling in, and I won’t lie, I would certainly play TBC…

can you give a link to that please, because as far as i am aware, no dev has said anything about anything regarding post stage release.

If i was at home i could have it easily. I’m at work though.

no rush. I haven’t found anything myself.

Why does it need to go further?

It would cease to be the same game. It’s ok to have an end to strive toward. Some will race to the end and disappear, some will take it slow, some won’t ever leave. Don’t change it.

Nothing. It sits there for us to go through it with as many alts as we want.
But, I wouldnt be surprised at all if we get a progression server that slowly goes through each expansion. If the classic servers do very well

Content with the same philosophy of classic, like RS did, which I guarantee was a big reason why we’re seeing classic in the first place because they proved it worked and made money.

The fact that we’re starting with patch 1.13 (on demo) and potentially higher on beta/release already means we’re already there, we’re ALREADY on vanilla++, this is a golden opportunity for blizzard and I honestly believe people have to be in denial to not see it.

Why does it need to go further?

because some want to see it go further i guess. Some want BC added. Others want to see it stay at 60 with new content added. Others want to see it stay the same. Its just different opinions on progression.

In the end, it will probably depend on success, demand, and bottom lines.

Personally I think the best option is opening up TBC and WotLK servers while leaving the Classic servers alone.

TBC and WotLK are both well loved expansions in their own right and changed some things, especially in regards to class design, that some people prefer.

It’d be a shame not to re-visit those expansions.

I agree with Sabetha…would love to play BC and Wrath again one of these days!

And adding bc servers would be fine.
But adding content would ruin it for those that just want vanilla.

Making tbc and wrath servers would be shooting themselves in the foot.
It fragments the player base extremely hard, it would need twice the work of classic while still working on it, it would just redo the same mistakes and the number of players, specially in wrath, would be extremely low compared to vanilla.
And then you hit a “what’s next” when you release ruby sanctum for wrath, just like now and we don’t even have classic.
At most they could give tbc a chance but I already doubt that, it was a major change in design philosophy and most of wow current problems come from models introduced this expansion.

I know people might not want to hear it but classic++ just sounds like such a huge golden opportunity for blizz I would really doubt them to not go after it, while doing bc and what not is a massive risk and/or would fragment playerbase.
And honestly, I would like it too as long as they do it correctly.
No expansion and just more content for vanilla, hyjal, emerald dream, karazhan crypts, etc.
And yes, people do play vanilla constantly, but would they pay 15 monthly to do it forever?

Classic+ also pisses off the people who want an authentic Classic, which has been a fairly big request around here. Even in the threads of “what do we do after Naxx?” a lot of people don’t like the idea of adding content to Classic.

While TBC/WotLK servers would draw some people away, it would also draw some people back who wouldn’t otherwise play just Classic. There may be things that some people around here don’t like about what they did but like I said, they’re still very well loved expansions overall.

Plus, Blizzard has said they have little intention of developing two MMOs. Classic WoW isn’t something they want to put a lot of resources into, nor is it something they expect a ton out of.

I think it would be cool to have classic, TBC and WOTLK servers and allow you to copy characters over to them. Only in one direction though IE Move a classic character to TBC but not a TBC to classic.

Why not wipe it after a few years and reset? eg. 12 months after max is released, the servers wipe and start again.

Maybe add new realms, but dont wipe.

I think they’d need to be careful about a copy and not a transfer since there is a potential exploit in there but otherwise yeah, it’d be nice to have them.

If nothing else I’d love to do TBC raiding since I missed out on it back in the day.

If they ever added anything to classic I hope it would stay in the two continents fill in the blank areas on the map. Not add new classes or new races. Not go to some alternate universe or timeline. But I wonder if they have any idea how to add content without making past content irrelevant.
