After testing the new bank storage on the PTR

EDIT: Thanks Blizzard for moving my post to the PTR forums, but this pertains to the current 11.1.7 patch to let people know about what to do NOW in preparation for 11.2. Don’t try to hide this and get people to pay 9K more than they should per character.

  1. All level 80, regardless of situation, will get the max 6 slots, 98 bag slots per for a grand total of 588 slots.
  2. Anyone under 80 will need to either purchase the 7 bank slots, 2 void storage options and reagent tab before it goes live to ensure you get the full 6 x 98 new slots.
  3. Anyone not buying all the options and under level 80 can start with as little as 1 slot, or 98 spaces of storage and will now need to buy the remaining tabs for 9100g each alt.

If you buy all the slots now it will only cost:

  • 7 bank slots - 111.1G total
  • 2 Void - 100G
  • 1 Reagent - 100G

For 311.1G now you can max out your new bank slots in 11.2. Or you can wait for 11.2 and buy them all then for 9,100G. And that is just slots, you do not need bags in each slot, they can be empty.

Even if all you have is bank slots, no reagent, or bank slots and reagent, you will get enough storage to cover all those slots and more, we should technically start with spare bank slots and no missing items.

I also tested and found my void items did come over as I had sufficient storage, but on live with so much going on it might be worth moving stuff around if you need and manually taking out void stuff you want to keep before it happens.

Always up for us getting more space to store our things and work with. The only concern I have is what may be lost when they make the switch.

Dear Blizzard: What happens when it DOESN’T WORK?

You know… LIKE LAST TIME???

Surely they’ll have a backup this time around, right? Right??

Blizz should start thinking of dissolving Banks. Housing should be the storage. When you own a house, that’s where you store everything you own. Inn and Banks should be dissolved soon.

I could get rid of hundreds of bank slots if I knew for an absolute and immutable fact that timewalking scaling up was going to be 100% permanent and no take-backsies.

That’s a good 1/4th of what I keep in the bank in the first place, special gear for timewalking.

But knowing that would require communication, which has been awful for years. And it would require a track record of careful, forward-thinking changes instead of the knee-jerk oopsies of TWW.

What about characters under level 80 who previously purchased all bank slots? Do they just lose those slots and have to re-buy them?

I tested it and the bags and tabs items where moving like this.

Tab 1, 2 and 3 contains all items from the old main bank tab and the 7 bank bags, including the bags themselves having everything together on those bags with the empty slots on the last tab in my case.

The old bank had 28 slots on the main tab and 7x36 = 252 slots plus the 7 bags themselves for a total of 287 slots. Those 3 tabs are 3x98=294 so everyone should have at least 7 empty slots on Tab 3. 14 once the bags, no longer needed, are removed from the bank.

Tab 4 is the old reagent bag. No gain, no loss. Still 98

Tab 5 is the old tab 1 from void storage. It was 80 slots and now it is 98. 18 slots more
Tab 6 is the old tab 2 from void storage. It was 80 slots and now it is 98. 18 slots more

In total a player with all the bank filled should have 43 free slots on the tags. And once he removes the bags, 50 slots

Additionally no tab has any type of restriction like they had on the old reagent tab and void storage wich is also an indirect gain.

I’m so torn on this. The last time I remember blues actively engaging with the community was back in the days of Ghostcrawler and the like.

I kinda get why they quit interacting though. Some of the people that play this game and frequent(ed) the forums would just absolutely flame devs for the smallest things.

You have literally never needed TW gear, it was great when it worked and made you an unstoppable force, but anyone for the most part has been able to do TW with ease.

No you keep what you have now, but if you do not have slots now you start with 1 on the new system and than need to outlay 9K per alt who has not slots.

So if you have any alts with no current bank slots that is not level 80, buy then while it is cheap and the conversion is free.

Yea I know I keep all my money in my mattress at home or when I run out of space there I bury it in 50 gallon drums in my backyard.

I dont plan on doing anything with housing. So no

Well, there goes the bag market for tailors :frowning:

Thank you for the report. I’ve not had time to play the PTR.

I did just login to it to check out my bank on a copy of this toon and the last tab of the Warbank is still 500k gold for me.

I didn’t really expect that bank to get a price reduction for it’s tabs tho.

I also didn’t have much of anything in my bank and this toon never used void storage. So I don’t have a means to test if everything came over or if anything was lost. I didn’t lose any of my meager possessions.

My other account is much older, from 2011, but I don’t have any game timer for it rn. My DK on that account, her void storage was nearly full of older stuff, PVP gear and things like that from cata, that are no longer obtainable.

Psure I have transmog of those sets, so if I do happen to lose any of them at least I will have the tmogs.

Got bad news for you but thats never been the final tab of the warbank

People have at no point in history possessed this.

I mean, some of us can, but yeah, you’re right me thinks.

wut?..

it’s the only one I have showing.

Does another one become visible after I buy that one?

either way, not spending 500k on a bank tab that will sit empty.

my regular bank doesn’t even have 1 full bag on any of my toons.

Yes, the next and final tab is 2.5 million gold.
