After Sylvanas is Gone, Who Will be WoW’s Next Anchor?

So it looks like Legion, BFA, and Shadowlands is shaping up to be the “trilogy of Sylvanas.”

Part 1: Sylvanas starts doing bad things.
Part 2: Sylvanas does a lot of bad things and makes everyone sad.
Part 3: Sylvanas does so many bad things that she breaks the universe.

Point is, we’re so used to Sylvanas doing bad things to keep the plot moving. Who would we be were it not for our hatred of Sylvanas? We’ve gotten used to her doing bad things for the sake of the plot that we probably wouldn’t even know what to do with ourselves once she stopped.

Well, the day of her stopping seems to be coming sooner rather than later. The Sanctum of Domination raid will likely be her denouement, and Sylvanas will not survive to see a part 4. After all, what successful franchise ever stuck around for a fourth entry?

But we’ll still be here. It’s our duty to stay and suffer, after all. But the question remains: who will be here to do bad stuff to us after Sylvanas is well and truly kaput?

I wouldn’t put money on her being gone for good.

Sylvanas Windrunner is the best Warchief the Horde ever had, even more than Garrosh Hellscream.

“So bow down to her if you want, bow to her. Bow to the Queen of Slime, the Queen of Filth, the Queen of Putrescence.”

Edit/PS. couldn’t help it!

Your reference to The Princess Bride has caused me to come out of Forum Retirement to give you a high five  and a socially responsible hug :hugs:

The Infinite Flight is somewhere so wouldn’t be surprised if they were used to bring back Sylvanas or some corrupted hero from another time line to use as the Big Bad.

At this point I am expecting an Alliance leader to be the next evil faction leader just because the horde leaders being evil is so overused at this point and the writing team at blizzard will probably think that it is an amazing unexpected twist to have one be evil for longer than a single boss fight.

What I think needs to happen though is a large time skip, like 10-15 years or more. One of the big problems with the story right now is that there is a dissonance between what we are being told (both in and out of game) about the current state of the factions, and what keeps happening. They could easily put this in the story by making it so that when we fix the giant gaping hole in Icecrown time is no longer in sync between the living world and the shadowlands and the little time it takes us to get back to Oribos and go though the portal back to our factions years have gone by.

Both factions are supposed to be at the breaking point because of the never ending wars and big bad evil guys that keep attacking us. We need there to be time for all the races to rebuild and repopulate so that it can make some semblance of sense that they are even able to keep fighting, both each other and the monsters that keep attacking. There was always years of in setting time between each of the RTS games without major world ending threats attacking, so that doesn’t break the lore.

I think it is time to introduce the Hogger as a potential enemy of azeroth. We could say that he made a deal with the void and obtained more powers than the jailer he he he

Is Sylvanas still the Horde warchief?

You making wild assumptions.

Me Leaning back in my chair with a smirk on my face.

Incoming redemption arc, possibly with the death/sacrifice of Anduin.

Garrosh was a short sighted fool. He literally sacrificed his allies on purpose due to racism. Under Sylvannas, if you died, it was for the good of the Horde.

Glad to know you were only mostly dead

It was for the good of Sylvanas Windrunner. How do you people still think she cares about the Horde? Like, it was always obvious she didnt, she flat out said so in the Before the Storm novel, and then at the end of BfA she yelled “THE HORDE IS NOTHING” in front of the entirety of the Horde.

How are you guys still missing this?

She.

Doesnt.

Care.

About.

You.
