Fully agree. Might prefer 2 seconds per arcane. I’d also like to see Arcane Shot just base do full damage without needing aimed, and have the aimed combo grant you 100% crit on your next 1-2 arcanes. Then maybe buff or give Aimed a little Arpen to still put it above arcane shot as a priority.
Marksman has a lot of potential, it would only take a few tweaks to arcane/aimed + removing Scatter off trap DR to really bring it back. IDK why Arcane has to be so awful without aimed meanwhile other ranged classes are hopping around with constant instant casts that dwarf our damage by a long shot.
Example of constant jumping around would be freaking balance druids. They have the world in their hands when it comes to range compared to us its annoying
I feel like if AiS isn’t going to hit like a truck, it needs a shorter cast-time, cost less focus, and should be able to be used on the move… Or maybe they could incorporate on the move into TS. I also think melee have too many gap closers for MM to not have binding shot as a baseline skill. I find bursting shot annoying, as it feels like it still doesn’t work right half the time. I agree, I miss Kill Shot. Should’ve never been taken out of the game. At one point, Blizz had MM right where it needed to be, and then made changes for the sake of making changes, and this is the result. I’ll still play MM, holding out hope Blizz makes some additional changes, maybe bringing back some old play style features (Kill Shot, moving Aimed Shot, etc.)
Side note, I feel like they should change explosive shot to the old school version, make it cost more focus than AiS, but if you take it as a talent, it replaces AiS. Clearly would need some tuning, but it’d at least give us the option of not having to stand still to break out our heavy hitter. Anyways, just my thoughts
Well. AiS hits PLATE for less damage because its a PHYSICAL DAMAGE ATTACK AGAINST THE HIGHEST ARMOR CLASS IN GAME. (Fun fact: Armor reduces Physical Damage)
Next for your issue with not being able to kill outside of your window?
Set up your targets, mark and grind them with Steady Shots and build up that Steady Aim, or go Machine Gun style and rail that.
Pop your Trueshot and lay out a fat Double Tap hit and rail them with spamming AiS and RF. I’ve done this to many healers and watch them absolutely melt in PvP
outside of your windows of TS, use the terrain, use your slows, keep a vantage point, keep the upper hand. Take out prime targets like healers. Even if you cant get a random 1shot holy AiS crit anymore you’re still doing better than before this patch. As a large amount of that AiS PvP nerf is now G-O-N-E
The class is more demanding of the player’s skill now, as RNG is completely gone. If you need an easier class that has a spec design of “Press the shiny button” I suggest you look elsewhere.

Hahahahaha what a hilarious post from a 1500 player. Not even going to try to explain what mm feels like while played at a high skill cap vs other high skill capped players to a 1500 player.
Well, i can tell you alot of the reason is your azerite and your stats you are stacking, you need 2x FF and 1x Surging, BFP is not that great a trait, it might be ok if you manage to get it on the target and rapidfire, but i noticed that each stack consumption has a mini cooldown as i had 20 stacks used a 24 shot rapidfire an the target still had about 10 stacks left.
You want easy mode 1 button damage and constant everpresent pressure out the wazoo, so you made a gripe topic thinking it will mean much more that a copper in the Dev World.
You want to improve the class?
Get constructive. As right now you are just sitting in a corner whining when you could be improving your game.
LOL i don’t want a win button i want a better designed spec. pretty much MM before legion. wotlk-wod even would be better than what we have now. As far as Constructive input goes ive been giving lengthy detail to what is wrong with MM since early Beta. Devs don’t care to fix this spec. Many other good hunters have also been giving plenty of good feedback.
He’s made quite a few very constructive posts/threads as of recent, as well as helped quite a few people out from a position of serious expertise on the subject managing to be one of only single digit amount of high rated MM hunters in the game.
Meanwhile you’re criticizing and giving out extremely awful and outdated information. You should not be running steady aim in any rated scenario whatsoever anymore, and Steady Shot should barely exist in your rotation.
He could probably word his posts a bit better, but they’re far more valuable than your vitriol accompanied by expertise from a bracket in which players are making 10-20 mistakes per minute, and likely don’t have all of their abilities keybound. Advice and design should at the very least come from a perspective in which all parties have all of their abilities bound, and are being used in a useful manner, in which the 1500-1600ish bracket certainly is not.
You’ve not only failed to help anyone, you’ve actually given out bad advice that could cause another player who may not be aware to play worse.
Mm is actually horrible and plays like it feels. You barely see any mm hunters even after the lilttle 8.1 rework.
There have been hundreds of posts trying to help devs with all kinds of feedback on how to fix this spec and it falls on deaf ears. The only people playing mm are the die hard mm only fans. Chestius you must be new here if you think the hunters talking above are just some crying bad hunters. Check most of their profiles and see they have the pvp experience to back what they are saying
Spec needs a bit more peeling or cc tools, i dont understand why hunters got gutted so hard on every CC we had, previously if you qued into double melee as a hunter an they went on you, it was pretty much a free win as you kited with 8 sec master call an freedoms from your ret/healer. you could scatter to setup your own traps or crane sleep/monkey stun or even web from disengage. you also had a spam-able purge even if it cost focus. you could slow tons of monsters with concusive barrage and it kept slows in your main shots, didnt need to waste globals on conq shots. i feel MM damage is there, but we need a better cc or kiting tool kit. locks and mages have similar casts to aimedshot but they have spamable castable cc and roots and built in slows to their damage, and also their pets have useful cc.
